When will the RCSC let the 3rd shoe drop?

First the BOD passed Plan 2 at Mountain View and waived the 3rd reading so MEMBERS couldn't give any input. Second they removed Director McAdam under what appears to be shady maneuvers. The third shoe to drop will be when the BOD appoints someone to the vacant seat on the Board.

Each day I go to the RCSC website under the heading Board of Directors, have my eyes almost closed in negative anticipation and then have been relieved not to see a re-tread, pro-golf appointee filling the seat.

Let's hope the third shoe drops on the heads of the rogue board of directors themselves! The last thing we need is another retread director and it looks like there are not many candidates waiting in the wings. They are apparently paying attention and don't want any part of it?

Funny aggie, we all read the rumors they had almost immediately invited another retread to join then come September. Apparently they are holding off in naming him on their website and when he is sworn in come September the "excitement" (yawn), will be over. I don't think there's any question it will be yet another in a long line of rubber-stampers.

Someone pointed out to me the convenience of director Kennedy left shortly after the first of the year rather than just before so we could have elected 4 new board members. The way it went down made it easy to just slide Dan into place. Might be as pure as the driven snow, but i have my doubts. The one thing we know for sure is Kat has more than paid her dues and she should be filling any open positions.

I didn't want to start a thread for just this question so here goes. We finally did a walking tour of the new Grand Center. Does anyone know what the unfinished building on the north side of the Vintage Vehicles will be housing? Is it the unfinished pet project of Director Shroeder's....an indoor archery range? Come on, I surely hope it will be something more desired by Members. That would have been the perfect spot for the basketball courts.*

Also, it was strange that there was no check-in station when entering either building, the Posse Office was closed and we only saw a RCSC employee as we were leaving the parking lot. Poor security at that Center.

    *or indoor pickle ball courts?

Word i heard was no one knows? Go figure aggie. What i found strange was the dirt floor. Really? It looks huge so maybe an indoor pball court would fit. Haven't been over in the other building yet, curious to see how the space was allocated there? The funny thing i recall was they (the board or management) arbitrarily tried to move the Bell Stained glass club down there and they said "hell no." They had not requested to be moved there, what they had requested was a small addition on their existing club. Apparently they thought they'd be delighted to go. When that fell through, we all know what happened next as an Oakmont club was given the space. I wonder if that was a "conflict of interest?"

These guys crack me up as decisions have been made over and over again for both clubs and golf that they have been actively engaged in. Makes you wonder doesn't it?

Sounds like the perfect place for an indoor dog training arena. Especially since the number of dogs in our community will only continue to grow.

No security at the Grand facility you say, and this is the system and contractor management wants the BOD to use for all future facilities.

Perhaps the BOD might want to take another look at the Security Plan presented by the LRPC.

Is anyone surprised that the BOD’s rumored replacement for Mrs. McAdam is a former Director who says, “there are already too many pickle ball courts in Sun City”.

Maybe the security at the Grand Center is magical and not visible? I was just surprised there's no check-in or employee station at the main entrance and Building 2 wasn't locked. There are cameras so maybe they are being monitored somewhere in the facility? We only saw one club in Building 1 with members doing projects.

Therein is the challenge of using data as the sole criteria for club space. The simple truth is everything in Sun City sits empty and quiet more that it is bustling with business. I'm not opposed to the use of data, but all too often it is incorrect. As far as security, my biggest problem with the Grand Center is the lack of perimeter fencing. Seems to me you are asking for trouble with access to the property all hours, especially after everyone is gone. We'll see eh?

    Just a thought here folks.
The younger generation uses Twitter, Instagram, etc. to stay in touch, but our generation tends to use Facebook. As much as I dislike these tools they have their purpose.
Ever thought about a private moderator/admin controlled FB group for the behind the scenes Sun City to get more followers. Seems that people respond a lot on FB so it may possibly generate more interest in the board activity. As a private controlled group the admin can control access and can delete posts and members. I’m not about control, but public groups do tend to get a lot of adds for services and a controlled group helps in that regard.

I would probably use an archery range. However, the liability costs would be huge and proper management could not be done with your standard RCSC employee. OMG that would be a disaster/major lawsuit waiting to happen.

It's an excellent idea BW. I have been posting a lot on a now private Facebook page called Sun City Chat AZ and it does attract a lot of attention. Used to be public but the admin was being driven crazy by all the requests from scammers wanting to come on and shill their stuff. The biggest challenge would be reaching people but this site would be a good start to build momentum. I have a funny feeling we would be infiltrated by board and or management but frankly i am not of the mind any actions we would be taking should be subversive but above board and about transparency.

Hope all is well with you.

Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media is as Lady GAGA said - the toilet of the internet.

I don't use any social media site and never will. - they are pure garbage and self serving ego sites.
Please tell me what value they have. They are similar to this forum - you get to express your opinion.

Creating a controlled group is next to impossible. How do you keep those not intended to be part of that group from becoming members of the group (board members).
Why would you invite board members to a group that you would want to be exclusive and void of board members when board members would find their way to the site
under ficticious names just to learn what the members are saying? You don't broadcast your plans to the enemy. The board at this point is the enemy of all in Sun City.
This forum is also broadcasting their discontent and plans to the current board.

Do you think the board is just sitting idly by and doing nothing till September? Wake up - they are planning their rebuttal and I'd bet they are planning on enlisting the aid of
Kevin Payne and maybe other politicians to address the Karen dismissal.

Your thoughts are appreciated, and like most postings on here (including mine), they are personal opinions.

Without bodies in chairs at board meetings and members meetings, groups on facebook, twitter, instagram, and this forum will never make a change to how the board has given control to the GM.
The board has no will to spend the time necessary to listen to their constituency (members) and do what is right for them. They are akin to the Congress of the US.
DO NOtHING and don't listen to your constituents.

Members/Cardholders - Please, please, please show up at the next board meeting in September.

Hey SCR...lady gaga as a source? Really? Okay with that out of the way, i think Bruce's comment was about reaching people where they are. And whether you like it or agree with it, they are on facebook in great numbers. I also don't agree on this; i don't see the board as the enemy. That was the problem ARS had and it became personal and simply about winning. I know the board doesn't see it this way, but we are the RCSC/Sun City. They bought into the argument they are the end all be all.

With where we disagree out of the way, your other point is right dead on the money. Nothing else matters right now other than showing up on Monday the 13th of September and showing the board people do still care. Nothing more, nothing less. You are also right, they are making plans to appease a segment of those who come. They want the McAdam fiasco to go away and they figure the only way to do that is give the p-baller's something to get them off their backs.

Again, whether we agree or disagree with anything else, showing up at the next board meetings is what this is all about. It's that simple folks.

    Bill you got my point.
Being a retired techie I understand forums, but many folks don’t. However, Facebook as much as I hate it gets to a lot of folks. Yes we need butts in seats and to get that you need the news to as many as possible. Like it or not FB is a reasonable way to do that.
It was a reasonable idea IMHO.

one thing we can all agree on… we need the community to attend meetings. If I’m here on that day I will attend.

    All is well with us.
I agree the idea is to inform folks of what is needed. Who cares if a board member joins, the group would not be planning a pitchfork rebellion as some might hope, just venting a bit and encouraging the community to act and get their but in a seat. Just another avenue to try to get the community to care and get involved.
As a Sun City newbie (a year ago this month), I see folks just enjoying the good life as long as actions don’t affect their favorite activity. I don’t care two pins about golf, tennis, pickle ball, or even lawn bowling. However, I do see there is a lack of transparent leadership. The board has the power now and they like it that way so it seems.
Can the community get the community back? I believe so, but first they have to understand that it can be done and how to do it. They also need to understand why they should care personally. Most folks here are just enjoying the good life.

There-in is the problem Bruce, if indeed it is a problem. Most people don't give two hoots about how Sun City is run or why it works. It pretty much defines the difference from boomers to the greatest generation. As you said, if it doesn't affect them, it's not a problem. The only other push point is when costs go crazy. The gm has done a good job with keeping dues steady, but there's several reasons it worked. Then of course is the increase in PIF "only affects new buyers," or at least that's what they always say. I suspect come Sept as they close several amenities down for years and then tell us they want 5k for the PIF they may well get some push back.

FYI, my impression is Nextdoor has a huge following so anything posted there will be seen by a lot of SC.

Oh HELL NO! The firing of McAdam is far bigger than placating the pickleball players. We all want the board to admit they unjustly fired McAdams, reinstate her immediately and start performing their duties of the office they were elected to. Starting with reading the AIs, Bylaws, Robert's Rules & working for the residents of Sun City and not the GM. Nextdoor app is a great way to help get the word out about,"SEATS IN CHAIRS" I'm not savvy enough to start the group or I would, if someone reading this knows how, it should done immediately!

i hope you are PI. This is the first time in a very long time those living here are paying attention. That alone is encouraging. Nextdoor has a large following and would be an excellent place to promote attending the Sept 13 meeting.
