Are you sick of it yet?

It's getting to be that time of year for me. Seriously, i love the summer months, traffic is down to nothing and the heat is just what it is. Summer months I seldom suffer the road rage of being the 3rd golf car back at the stoplight on Bell and Del Webb Blvd. This time of year is just plain all around easier.

That said, as we enter our 4th month of 100 plus degree days (May, June, July, August and soon to be Sept) i am growing weary of the mid-day heat that engulfs you. Hell, Sun City became a destination because of the weather, at least October through April with May and September being wild cards.

What most people don't understand is our 90 degree temps are quite moderate. And let's face it, when we get our freeze on in December and January, it's time for winter coats, stocking caps (tuc's for Canadian's eh?} and gloves. Then again, the best part of those "freezing" months is you can always tell winter visitors because they are the ones with shorts and t-shirts on as we bundle up.

Let's face it. the best of the best is Oct/Nov and Feb/March. Our weather is to die for, especially when you turn on the news/weather and see the snow flying across the country. Truth be told, even during our summer heat, watching the areas around the country pounded by flooding, tornado's, hurricanes, fires that consume whole countrysides, sinkholes and the other weather anomalies, i'll take Sun City all year round.

But, i am looking forward to walking our young girl Sybil on those cooler evenings with temps dipping down in the 70's. We always go way further when it cools off and we are sweating like pigs with our now soaring humidity. Most of the year the humidity hovers around nothing, just the monsoon season where it spikes to uncomfortable levels.

Of course the trade-off is as the weather moderates, the masses come pouring back and our stores, streets and centers are filled to the brim with our half-timers.

My favorite month in SC is April, great weather/ fewer people. The desert is incredible in April.

It's okay as long as I don't move.

I keep reminding myself we had a better May and part of June than I bargained for, but these higher triple digits wear me down at this point in the summer when I expect it to ease up. Am SO looking forward to resuming walking the neighborhoods and not having to resort to the indoor hamster wheels 'tho glad we have 'em....

I have a friend who figures that we will pay for the easy May & June by having a blistering Sept. & Oct. tacked on to the end of summer,. Sort of like a science experiment but different.
