I like Dr. Cho at Wildflower Dental on 99th Ave, just North of Union Hills Dr, on the West side of the road. Very gentle staff and thorough. Also have various forms of sedation if needed.
If & when I need a new dentist, I will probably choose Burns Dentistry at Del Webb & Thunderbird. They get excellent reviews.
I do like Burns Dentistry because of their CLEAN office, cheerful personnel, convenient location and modern equipment. It is a shock to the checkbook to cover the cost of dental work as we age. It would have been so good to have eye glasses, hearing aids and dental work covered to a greater extent under Medicare as those are some of the biggest costs to us when income starts to be limited. In addition to the burden of paying for prescriptions, these are the healthcare needs that are neglected due to the cost.
There are plenty of good dentists outside of Sun City. For instance, Sonny Zegar in Sun City West.. I would not limit myself to a dentist in Sun City just because they are close and in Sun City. Get out of Sun City and explore. As for healtcare costs above and beyond the ordinary, (dentists, eyewear, hearing aids), do not expect to see Medicare For All to be your savior. Mediacare For All will NEVER be passed in your lifetime. Mediacare right now has one of the largest amounts of fraud in the country. Imagine what will happen if Medicare for All ever does pass (unlikely). When you retired, there was absolutely no promise or guarantee that whatever you were paying at retirement will be that way for the rest of your life. Am I happy that dentists, audiologists, and optomatrists are not covered by Medicare. Absolutely. However, I did plan ahead knowing that health care costs would continue to rise for the rest of my life. Prescription drugs is another area where costs will continue to rise forever. The government cannot control what companies charge for their services and goods. If the government does, we will become a socialist country. There used to be a saying something like "There are only 2 things that are guaranteed in life - death and taxes". Well, you can add a third now and that would be the ever increasing costs of healthcare". Both the Republicans and Democrats say they can lower healthcare and prescription drugs cost. They are out and out lying to you. The last 4 Democratic debates suggest that Medicare For All will lower healthcare costs and drug prices. Who do you think is going to cover the cost of Medicare For All? Not Congress and not the executive office. It will be the middle class that pays dearly for Medicare For All. The current crop of Democratic candidates should abandon all mention of lowering healthcare costs and drug prices. It is NOT going to happen. And just remember, Medicare only covers 80% of your medical expenses, so you will still have to have supplemental insurance to cover some of the rest.
Goodness i hate when we get here; nope not because it's so difficult, but because it's so obvious. Unless and until politics becomes more pure, we are all doomed to drown in outrageous costs for all forms of health care. And before i go there, every time Bernie starts talking about Canada i scream at the TV. Nothing in life is free, the Canadians cost for food is in some cases ten fold what ours are. Yes they get free health care, the cost to buy it is picked up in everything else they buy. Back to my soapbox. Citizen's United was one of the biggest cons ever perpetrated on the American public. It insured both those on the right and the left could take huge sums of money from corporations, organizations and groups that ultimately wanted to buy them. Yes your $5 donation may get them in the next debate, but ultimately the big money interests own them lock, stock and barrel. SCR is right, they can stand there and pontificate all they want, when push comes to shove and it is time to vote, watch how their grand ideas all disappear in smoke. Nothing will change in this country until we take back our democracy. Nothing. Trump told you he alone was going to fix it...how's that working out? The gridlock has never been worse and we all just keep paying the price. On the health care side, pharma and the insurance carriers are more than happy gouging us and the money they spend buying politicians grows every day (as do their profits). Nothing illegal about it, just immoral. That said, the politicians themselves could make those "donations" illegal, but that would leave them vulnerable. I haven't talked about dentists because when i do i get even crazier. Might be the biggest racquet of all. But that's another story for another day.
No, no, no.....this was not to morph into a political thread. Move back over to "Enough is Enough". Take your chill pills and give us your "racquet" theory when you're ready. Or, continue to give opinions on local dentists to stay on topic. My lament was about the cost of dental procedures and the fact that people put them off for that reason.
Dentists all suck. They should have become politicians except they'd make less money and would have to work more. How's that?
I have to go with SCR on this one. Dr. Zegar has been my dentist since he took over the practice from my previous dentist. Aside from we grew up in the same community, he has always been very professional, cut a deal with seniors on cost for heavy duty dental work, lets you pay in installments if need be and also teaches at Midwestern University. His support staff, Bill handling the front office, Nora assisting the doctor when need be on serious dental work and his dental hygentist. He has also developed his own dental plan that is much more inexpensive that insurance companies and gives great deals on all aspects of dental health with no waiting periods for serious work, unlike dental insurance plans. You can go to the dentists that have branch offices everywhere, but if you want to support a more personalized small business, Dr. Zegar is your man. He also gives discounts on serious work for long suffering Cub fans such as myself (actually he gives the same discount to anyone who qualifies).
