If I could I'd be in Sun City now

I live in West Hollywood, CA and will move to Sun City, AZ in a few years when I retire. I'm looking at houses now. When I find one, I plan to take my vacations in SC until I move for good.

 

That's what we did Cynthia. We bought the house at the age of 51 and virtually all of our vacations brought us to Sun City. Quite the change because we always took a winter vacation cruise to escape the Minnesota cold. Never regretted it, and in fact loved the idea that every trip we made here brought us a day closer to moving to Sun City on a permanent basis.

Did you know in the early 60's, other than Arizona, the largest number of retirees buying in Sun City came from the state of California?

 

I imagine many would come from CA. While it is hotter in AZ, the weather is somewhat similar. And it's a close drive if you want to head back for a visit.

 

B, Were you able to meet some people on your vacations? How long have you been in SC now?

 

I grew up in southern CA and loved driving up and down the Hollywood strip. Welcome soon to AZ

 

For some reason I thought most of the buyers were from the mid west. Thanks for that interesting bit of info. I do love living so close to San Diego Zoo.

 

Thanks for the welcome, Fiona. It's good to be able to talk to a few people who actually live in Sun City. I moved often when I was younger, I had no concerns are it, but it's harder to meet people now.

I was so glad to see this web site created here. You will be surprised at how many people you will meet and become friendly with. Just join a club. My first few months at the club were hard and I was a bit foggy due to taking care of my mom who was dying. I went to just get away for a bit and was not too successful in making friends. I have since come out of my shell and stay way too busy now. There are some fantastic people here and we have made more friends in the last 6 months than we did in our former neighborhood in 8 years. I also find very friendly people at our walking pool at the Bell center. I love that pool. You will do just fine. After all you are from CA lol.

 

You lucky ones who are already there. Of course we who are waiting still have an adventure to look forward to.:eagerness:
