Everybody has there own reasons for loving Sun City. Lord knows there’s enough of them. To say there are hundreds of possibilities would be a gross understatement. What makes it so unique is the options are varied beyond comprehension.

This past week or so has left me reeling with just how interesting life in Sun City can be. Nope, nothing to do with the angst over T33. This is about the choices that exist in a community focused on an infrastructure based on and reliant on those of us living here.

It’s too bad, because most people are unaware how exciting those aspects of our way of life can be. Let me just highlight what I am saying. This week the SCHOA CC&R review committee submitted to the SCHOA board its proposals for cleaning up the CC&R’s. We spent just under a year working with residents and discussing its viability. Turned out awesome, now it is in the board’s hands to decide what to do with it.

A couple weeks back I attended my first long range planning committee meeting. From that came an effort to look to the future by trying to get our head around Gen Xer’s. Clearly a different generation of home buyers and while it is intimidating, it is also exhilarating to be trying to project what their needs/wants will be. We’ve barely scratched the surface, but it is exactly the kind of long range planning that will keep us relevant for decades to come.

Finally, the most exciting prospect of all comes from my favorite organization in all of Sun City. I have been invited to participate in a project at the Del Webb Sun Cities Museum. Way too early to say much, suffice to say, the museum is a rare gem that has so much untapped potential it is almost beyond comprehension.

The point here is, people almost always talk about golf or their clubs or the fitness/pools and all too often forget the other stuff that makes us tick, keeps us running efficiently and effectively. Maybe i’m just wired differently, but there’s so much that makes us special, sometimes you need to look beyond your nose.

So, what gets your juices flowing in Sun City?

I am glad that Garage Sale Season has started up. And I love the thrift stores all year long.

Drive up and down the main streets and you will see signs littering the roadways. Just be wary of the folks who see them late and turn every which way but loose (turn signals be damned). I'll try and find the blog i used to write where i did the piece called "Garage Sale Heaven." It was a beaut.

Took a bit but i found it. Damn, there were some 100 plus posts on that old Sun Cities Today blog i did on the backside of the Museum site. This should help you get your head around garage sales and the plethora of like minded opportunities for "shopping" in Sun City. Click here for "Garage Sale Heaven."

    Fun.
