From the pages of the Independent newspaper today: "The most exciting outcome that i am pleased to announce is the RCSC Board of Director's plans to open these work sessions." From Jerry Delano, RCSC board president's article 'Get Ready, the times they are a-changing."

I would have been far more impressed if he hadn't maintained the BS about the age restricted status being threatened if they fall under T33. But alas, it is what is is these days.

Yup, happy they are opening up the work sessions. Too bad it's 10 years too late.

Ten years too late, Yep. But, there has to be a first step and it has arrived. Leaves me with several questions?
Does this mean the three minute time limit at the board meetings is now a thing of the past?
Will someone school DeLano on etiquette, and how to talk to the members in a way which does not demean them?
Will the board of directors learn the protocols of two way conversation, as in the art of listening, and not making it up as they go?
Is it possible for these new board members to lead the way for a new and enlightened way of running the board? They will not have been "Schooled" in the RCSC way of doing things.
Will there be agendas posted as to the topics to be discussed with the membership?
What kind of limits will be put on discussion? If limits then the meetings are not open.
Will the discussions be limited to agenda items or is the floor open to the members to bring forth other topics?

We are seeing the dawning of a new way of thinking at the RCSC, and it has been a long time coming. It is sad it took a lawsuit to bring the changes forward, and yet here we are, moving ahead with a new way of thinking. May the lawsuit end quickly and in a way which sees all parties amenable to an amicable end. Please do not let this suit and the fallout continue much longer, it is not in anyone's best interest.

Yes, the times are a-changing, let us all hope it has a smooth transition and outcome.

I think this is the most fitting verse.

    Come senators, congressmen
    Please heed the call
    Don’t stand in the doorway
    Don’t block up the hall
    For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There’s a battle outside and it is ragin’
It’ll soon shake your windows and rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin’

    Good Day All,

One of things we, as members of the RCSC are accustomed to is not being a part of the governing process. There were member exchanges, which one could watch on the Youtube channel, showing the members expressing their views and concerns, and a board which would always advise it would be taken under advisement. Then the board would go back behind closed doors and discuss whatever it was which was on THEIR agenda. Not necessarily your needs and wants, but a preset list of items to be discussed. Most times, the agenda was written by the GM, sometimes with an item a board member wanted to talk about added. And off the "work session" would go, the board members doing whatever they are ascribed to doing. No cameras, no outside input, all very back room, with no input from the members regarding items which could and would have direct impact on life within Sun City.

So, what is in the offing now? After a member exchange, instead or retreating back to the boardroom, the members of the board, with their agenda, will discuss RCSC business in the open, where members can watch and see how and who is driving a particular decision. Here is the best part, you get to have a say if you don't like the direction, or you can support the idea and help get the item passed by the board. It may be possible to be an active voice in the decisions which govern the RCSC and other items and costs you may or may not agree with. The once hidden agenda will now be available to all to decide if you have an opinion, and if you want to share it.

As a matter of personal concern are the folks who bring forth clogged drains at some toilet or restroom and why it is taking so long to get it fixed. Yes, these are open meetings, but the clogged drains and P-traps really are an issue for maintenance, not something the board has control over. There are no skilled plumbers on the board of directors.

It will take some getting used to, having the information available to us in a timely fashion which allows the members to gather information and form an opinion. Being able to have an opinion and expect two way dialogue on the situation is going to be brand new ground for the members of the RCSC. Being able to follow an idea from the beginning to the end of the decision making process is a wholly new venture for us of the RCSC.

In other words, this is your Recreations Centers and it is time to step up and participate in the governing of this fine community. This is truly the greatest form of the power to the people, let the members come forth and exercise there right to lead the direction for the future.

We just need to know when and how the meetings will begin to be available to the membership and when will the agenda's be available for browsing. After that, we can right this ship, and seek a direction which may meet some of the members needs and wants.
