For years the RCSC ran bus trips that people clamored for. Unfortunately a little over a year ago, they got out of the business. One of their more popular tours was to the Barleen's Dinner Show in Apache Junction. The last time they ran it, the cost was $99 per person. It included the bus there, dinner and a simply spectacular show.

We had won tickets year back and have since returned numerous times. We've always taken friends, and they have never failed to leave amazed at what a hidden gem they have found. Many of you are familiar with the long time TOSC members J&V, they were one of the couples who joined us.

They so enjoyed it, J (Jill) decided to put together a bus, now it may be two, and is scheduled to catch one of their Season's Best shows. It is slated for Thursday April 4th and will leave from the Bell Center at 4:15pm. We are going along and the good news is she has dropped the price to $60 per person (simply sharing the cost of tickets, bus and gratuities among those going).

I can tell you you will not be disappointed. The show is a blast, the food is quite good and having a group this size all from Sun City will be a hoot. If you love good music, join us as we leave the white walls and head off to Apache Junction.

Dang, tried posting a link to the dropbox flyer and Jill's information but the site wouldn't let me. Not sure what is going on but perhaps J can put up a link to the flyer that has her contact information.

I took many of the SCRC bus trips. It was nice not to have to drive but just enjoy the scenery.

    Dolly Steamboat/Apache Junction dinner.
Verde Valley Train. A Pizza Parlor noted for its Pipe Organ.
The price was always reasonable and I'm sorry they have stopped sponsoring trips.

Does anyone know why the RCSC stopped this extremely popular program? The bus trips were always the talk of the area, and there seemed to be a great deal of interest. Is this just another program the Director of Entertainment just couldn't be bothered with? It appears to this writer there is extremely low to no interest in keeping or making the residents of this wonderful community happy and engaged. The bus trips went the way of the work sessions and committee meetings - extinct.

What I remember most about the trips was that demand seemed to always outstrip capacity. Only infrequently were we able to get tickets for trips we were interested in.
I honestly had no idea there is a Director of Entertainment. Is it a full-time position? What events come under that position's pervue? The Sun Bowl and the monthly movies I'd guess, perhaps the activities around the holidays and 4th. But that doesn't make for a full time job.

The position is the Director of Member Services.....Theresa Cirino 623-561-4668. Entertainment is just one of the many requirements of the position. There used to be a corporate Standing Committee for the entertainment end of services but it went away a couple of years ago.
