Apparently we do not have a mailbox at our house. So when we saw our letter carrier on his route a couple blocks from our house we stopped and said hello and told him our address and he said you don't have a mailbox! I said that's what I was going to to tell you plus he knew our name. Super nice man his name is Tim.

Does that mean you have to have a P.O. Box to get delivery of your mail? Most homes/condos have a mail box attached to the house or a mail slot either on an entry or garage door. Do you live in the new development or an apartment style complex where there are multiple mail boxes in one location?

    HiAggie.
(My story was about how cool our letter carrier is. And how he knew of us before we had even moved in
The lack of mailbox was why we stopped to speak with him.)
It's a single home the owners accidentally took the mailbox with them. We will by my parents a new one when we are back at Christmas. The mailbox was near the kitchen door however when the carport was changed to a garage they took it down without relocating it.

If you have the place to install a slot in the garage I’d recommend it. I have one and its been so helpful and secure since I haven’t yet moved in. Or if you’re gone on vacation you don’t need to worry. If the slot is in the front door it limits the use of a locked screen door.

Yes...mail carriers are very important and a special breed here in Sun City. They get to know their customers and don't hesitate to report something unusual at one of their homes i.e. mail/paper/packages building up, broken doors/windows or other suspicious or possible harmful situations. We had a carrier for almost 10 years and it amazed me the size of his route and that he'd bicycle in any type of weather.

The mail slot that drops mail inside the house/garage is best to avoid alerting that the house is unoccupied. So much advertising mail is delivered by substitute carriers even if there is a hold/forward on record for the address.
