We are planning a trip this winter and will consider El Conquistador. We heard the Sandal resorts are great. Has anyone stayed at one of these resorts?

I spent a week in Puerto Rico and spent most of it in Old San Juan. So much to see there with forts, art, etc. The BEST eating experiences were where the locals went like Mallorca and Bombonara, although lastest info on web where they had the pics said the latter was closed! Hopefully, it will reopen. Both lured me in with baked goods in their window so orig. went just for a snack, then breakfast, then lunch. They were obviously old stand-byes and competitors. One had their dedicated career waitstaff decked out in red vests, the other in green. Of course it was Christmas season, so maybe that was why. Three Kings Day is bigger than Christmas since kids get their gifts then and were lined up by the Governor's Mansion for some. Really liked the Bacardi rum tour, with samples....not in the old town, but easy to get to and a nice bit of history with the sugar plantation info and bat symbol, etc.
