I will limit my remarks here and ask others in the room to post their thoughts. There were less than a dozen speakers, and i would guess i was the most emotional of the lot. I am frustrated by the actions of the board and management team and the idea we would form a for profit corporation makes absolutely no sense.

The boards explanation was more hot air than a logically thought out rationale. My biggest concern, as well as others, was this motion would only add fuel to the fire of the pending legal actions. We asked the board to provide a hold harmless letter from our attorney before any vote on the matter is taken...don't hold your breath.

Let me just conclude with the most simple explanation i can give regarding Sun City and what i expect from the board members we elect and who are supposed to be there serving us: Community before corporation; People before politics.

You did good today. I saw a lot of heads nodding in agreement, at least a lot of the 22 non board member/ non management people that were there.

I like the shooting range idea. I never thought of that use for the new building. I still think the car club should get first choice.(not a member)

All of the speakers were good, except for one. He said/she said does not belong in minutes. I also believe in community input but not community voting. We elect a board to vote for us. But it should be only after they have gathered the information, heard from the community and committee(s), explain why they want to do what they have a motion on, and explain the reason, if asked, for their vote. I would never get away with running my condo association that way.

They did not give you much of an answer on golf course money. A little about water was it. They could and should have said much more.

Again, you did good today. The reporter was writing much more than I ever saw him write before.

Just my thoughts from the meeting.

Disheartening, that was my feeling after the meeting.

As the board listened (or pretended to listen) to the members, the words combative, defiant, resigned and defeated came to mind.

Community members just want to see the one document that is being held up as reason for making a decision. One document.

It's discouraging to get the impression that we should feel lucky that we are allowed to attend board meetings and member exchanges. To know that the board has meetings where management tells them what is going on also seems wrong to me. Kind of the tail wagging the dog.

Prior to the meeting I went back through the "Sun Views" to see what each board member put out as their "goals" or platform. All mentioned something like listening to community members, better communication with the community, or something about transparency. I guess I need to better understand what people mean when they say these things.

Hopefully those from the board who follow this site will read your post and the spirit it was intended. They are of the attitude that when faced with controversy, it almost always puts them on the defensive and turns those in the room off. In the end it pushes new owners like yourself to just say screw it, obviously it doesn't matter what we think so why bother.

It is the exact opposite of what they should be doing.

And thanks for the kind words g47, i suspect i didn't make any friends on the board or management staff but this isn't about personalities but preserving the values that made Sun City so special.
