For years it was billed as the new resident orientation. Spearheaded by Paul Herrmann of the Sun Cities Visitor Center in the early days, it's now being run by the RCSC. It used to be a joint venture between the Visitor Center, SCHOA and the RCSC. I had the good fortune of sharing the stage back in my SCHOA days. It was always fun to be a part of such a cool event. Like all things that repeat for too long, they tend to get stale. So a few years back the RCSC took over the production and control, changed the name and retooled the program. The goal is for new and long term residents alike get a good look inside what makes Sun City tick. Clubs are invited along with organizations to set up tables inside the Sundial Rec Center. Time is allocated before and after the program to interact with those folks, get a feel for what may be of interest and to get a look at the supporting organizations that make Sun City work. Suffice to say, it is well worth anyone living in the community attend one of the two sessions. Of course there will be coffee and cookies to munch on, but more importantly will be the information attendees digest. Without further ado, here is the what, where and when: Wednesday January 20, 2016. Sundial Auditorium. Morning session: 9 am to 11 am. Evening session: 7 pm to 9 pm. Don't miss it.
Wednesday the 20th is the correct date. What can I say, Bill is getting up there in years and occasionally has a bit of a brain freeze.
WOW....We went to the morning session of the Discover Sun City program and it was a packed house. They asked people to raise their hand if they'd purchased within the past year. There must have been at least 75% of the people raising their hands and I'd estimate over 300 people in the seated area alone. I've heard the presentation many times but love the energy of the crowd. Don't miss this opportunity as there is still the evening session tonight from 7-9:00(if you can stay awake that late!).
