Let's start this with a simple premise: I'm not a gala kind of guy. Nope, did the suit and tie (and tux when needed) thing way back when. That was then/this is now. Shorts, t-shirts and comfy athletic apparel is all I wear. Nice. But alas, I was sent scurrying to my closet looking for a sport coat and long pants for the upcoming Del Webb Sun Cities Museum Gala (fund raiser) coming up on November 10. It is being held at Union Hills Country Club (nope, not a country club kind of guy either), with a starting time of 7pm. Like all organizations that survive on donations, they are struggling. The board for the museum decided to hold an event to raise money. They spend more than they take in yearly so offsetting some of those costs would be a good thing. This event is open to all, if you have the price of admission which is $25 per person and includes a nice meal. Tickets can be had at the museum which is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1 pm to 4 pm. There are several awards to be given out with recognition of Ed Allen, Paul Herrmann, Connie McMillin and the Sun City Poms. For more information on the event, you can call 623-974-2568. This should be both an interesting and informative evening for those interested in Sun City or Sun City West. There are already several major sponsors, but if there are any businesses out there looking to buy in, there's all kind of options. It's all good, well almost all good...long pants and a tie...ugh.
I saw the info on the Gala, and would love to be there. We don't get in until the 14th. Have a great time, I'm sure it will be fun (in a, sorry you have to dress up but it's worth it, kind of way).
The Gala was really well done with an awesome crowd and an interesting program. Thanks to the RCSC for their sponsorship and several others who stepped up to help make this fund raiser be a rousing success. The only real downside was putting on long pants, a coat and tie. That was painful.
