A coyote just strolled thru the commons behind my house. Haven't seen one in a long time. It was gone before I could get my camera. And, while I am on the subject of animals, a neighbor recently found a couple of rats in the bushes by house. Since then, I have had the bushes beside my house removed. Another neighbor found a rats nest in one of her trees when it was being trimmed. Someone else on another street said she had a tree removed after neighbor saw rats running up the tree and over to the roof. They have arrived, my friends. Take care. BTW. I live in the middle of Phase II.
uggg...thanks for the heads up peg. I have an orange tree and an olive tree in need of pruning. I need to get someone in there and take care of that.
I've never seen any rats(Phase I) but I know that rabbits chew through wiring on cars and golf carts left outside. Ever since our new neighbors moved in next door with 3 dogs we haven't seen a rabbit in our back yard. It's been about a year since we last had coyotes in our back yard which I don't miss at all. A pair would sleep under our tangelo tree until we took steps to agitate them with loud noise until they left. I have had those peach faced lovebirds back in our palm tree. A couple weeks ago it was just two and this past week there was a flock of 8-10. They sure are a colorful change from all the normal drab colored birds.
Glad to hear you've seen some lovebirds. Crossing my fingers some will find my palms. Which type of Palm did you see them in?
I believe it's a Canary Island date palm. I'd love for them to make it a home but they are rather loud and distinctive sounding.
Some species migrate some stay in the warmer climates. I believe Anna's have become permanent in Phoenix because of feeders. Not sure if Phoenix has Allen's yet, which are also permanent in SoCal. Allen's have taken over SoCal and I don't see as many Anna's as I used to. They also drive out some migratory hummers I have read. I used to see Costas but not many now and someone told me (don't know if its true) that the Allen's have driven them out. Allen's are the smallest but very territorial and take on the larger hummers.
