Let's start with a premise I have used before and one that fits perfectly with this thread: Most people are proud of where they come from (even though they had no hand in those tiny sperm cells swimming upstream). Roots long established are often tough to break from.

On the other hand, no one comes from Sun City. Yet for anyone who has followed the history of the community, you will find a plethora of people who have lived and died here loving the community as if it was their home from the moment of inception

Think I'm wrong? Let me offer empirical proof of the validity of this statement: How many of you living here have had friends or relatives visit? Show of hands would quickly reveal almost all of us have been there, done that. And what's the first thing you do when they come? Of course, drag them around Sun City; from the top of Viewpoint Lake to every rec center and all points in between.

The first thing they notice is how clean it is, how quiet it is while there is still an unbelievable amount of things going on. Then the ultimate question comes: How much does all this cost? That's when you really start gushing because the answer is staggering to anyone seeing Sun City for the first time.

The masses that have bought in Sun City over the years have almost always been proud of the fact they found the community and were smart enough to buy here. It's just natural to want to show off what Sun City is all about and why so many visitors ultimately come back and buy into this remarkable lifestyle. After all, who doesn't like great value in a community built around great values.

All of this preamble was little more than a setup for my final point. During our 50th Anniversary in 2010, we adopted this slogan: "An Extraordinary Past, A Brilliant Future." For many of us it was more than a catchy phrase, it was embedded in a concept we ultimately believed was true. At least a couple of us felt Sun City's best days were yet to come.

In the past three months, this site has been the catalyst to reinforce that belief. I've personally met three of the posters, new buyers that appear regularly on TOSC. I've visited their homes and seen first hand what the next version of Sun City will become. They are younger and are really excited about being a part of Sun City. They have moved here knowing and understanding the community better than their peers.

It's been an eye opener to me to watch as they make the new home their own. Updates beyond many of the DIY jobs so many of the folks did in the 80's and 90's are obvious and visually attractive. They knew they weren't buying a new home, and they also knew they could put their stamp on it and make it theirs.

Perhaps the most attractive aspect of meeting them is to see the pride, the joy and the longing to be a part of something very special. That bodes well for our future and speaks volumes about why our best days are in front of us. Boomers are finding the original Sun City and loving it every bit as much as those who came here before us.

How does it get better than that?

    Andria - Welcome back.

Just the other day I said (out loud to nobody in particular), Andria hasn't posted in a while, I wonder what's up? Hope all is well.
