I'm sure the answer to this is - each organization/club/church/dart league has their own, but...does the community have regular get togethers? Let's say a monthly birthday party. Each month it's at a different Rec Center. Or a Welcome Back, See Ya Later gathering for the winter residents...then one heck of a big bang ball during the summer while they are gone. :courage: Just kidding. I'm planning ahead...in 3 years and 1 month I will be legally allowed to live in Sun City by myself and I think it deserves a party. (I know that since one half of this duo is over 55 I can still live there, but go with it, I'm trying to get a party together).
Geez V, I cannot invite the entire community over to the house...it's not that big. I would consider doing a TOSC thing if folks were interested. Kind of destroys the whole anonymity thing though. Obviously not a big thang to me eh? On a larger scale note, lots of clubs do group welcome home and goodbye parties. The RCSC tries to run an event a month, like this month is some kind of a community fair taking place at the Sun Bowl. Someone can post up the details; that's not a guy kind of deal (details).
Yes. It is kind of nice to be anonymous. If someone wants to meet me, they can come to the SC Visitor Center the afternoon of the 2nd and 4th Wednesday (starting Oct 14). Or, the SC Posse Front Desk the afternoon of the 1st, 3rd, & 5th Friday (starting November 6). The latter would be a good opportunity to tour the new homes.
With a first name of "B," that sounds a bit anonymous or at least non-gender specific. I would note, "B" that more than a few of your 1,149 posts have seemed a tad testosterone driven, so my guessing vote is in the male column. Yes? But you also get my vote for MVP contributor to the discussion. Thanks!
That would be Bill, B R. I've been pretty transparent since moving to Sun City, just because when people know who is posting, the poster tends to become more cognizant/careful of what they are saying. It's like the difference between a letter to the editor that is signed and a rant/vent with no signature. That said, I do understand the point of anonymity and respect those who use it. Message boards and forums wouldn't exist without it. You are spot on about the testosterone thingie, but damn, since I retired I thought I had tamed way down. Guess it's still a work in progress eh?
Technically I am using my real name and just enough people know the face behind the name. I don't think I ever say anything I wouldn't say if my whole name was displayed on my posts.
That's because you are too nice to ever be nasty a. My problem is I tend to get snarky so it helps keep me in check.
No idea why Jeff Grand from the Daily News Sun elected not to do the story. I'll beat him up that next time I see him (that one's for you BR). And the other genius idea of the Sun City Futurists Club got put on hold once we started looking for another property to rent.
It would be interesting to see if the dynamics changed if the members of TOSC got together. Hey, we could have a disguise party. I'm going as BPearson. :anonymous:
I think it usually changes, once you meet in person. I'll bet many of us here post our real name on FB. But on TOSC most of us went anonymous or half anonymous.
Now that's a scary thought eh? Probably need to make it a Halloween party. Actually the Next gen club is having one and I know they'd love to see some of you newbies show up. I'll get the details and post them later in it's own thread.
I do believe you did. Of course the next question, after that post, is "are you old enough to live here young lady?" Some of our more senior women get a tad testy when they see a young face and an even younger body.
BTW C, you should hike down to the house a few doors down that just went up. It's got the same great exposure and it is a pretty cool house. It's got all those angles and lots of room to roam. It was owned by a friend of mine who must have decided to downsize. Might make for a good investment eh?
I saw it the for sale sign. Personally I wanted to get rid of those angles. JR did not give me good news on that. Seems these flat roofs do not have all non-loading bearing walls as commonly thought. Bit of a bummer for my intended plans. I do have all flat roof although there is a slight slope. No attic. I can't remove my annoying wall
