OK not going to start trash talking or anything...just looking to know if there are any Toronto Blue Jays fans in Sun City that visit this board. Heading to AZ October 3rd and hope to be able to watch the games on the west coast somewhere??

    Cheers - Grant

Hey Grant...you aren't one of those dreaded foreigners sneaking into our country from across the border are you? Next thing you know Trump will want to build a border along the northern border as well. Wait, I think it was Scott Walker that wanted that one. RIP Scottie boy.

    Long live Canada.

You caught me....used to be a pole vaulter, all good. Geese learnt a long time ago...don't talk politics!!! But man sure is easy pickins. I know the last few years your Lowes and Home Depot stores sure have loved me!

As you are well aware, have been lurking on the site for sometime. Like to have a chat sometime when we are in town. We're in Phase 2...want to get a little insight on our model, etc.

Can't we all just get along:sneakiness:

OMG, a Canadian that doesn't lawn bowl? A virtual mortal sin by most of my Canadian friends standpoint eh?

Let me know when you get back in town, probably can put my hands on anything you want to know about your place in phase 2.

Too funny on politics...your's are no where near as fun as ours.

BP - the man asked about baseball and you talk politics?

4n6 - We aren't currently Blue Jays fans, but that can change as the playoffs progress, if you know what I mean. We have yet to find a sports bar within the walls of Sun City. There is a restaurant "Little Bite of Italy" that has sports playing on their bar tv's, but I have no idea if they will be showing the playoffs. If you head into Peoria, there are quite a few options for sport event viewing. We haven't found a favorite, but I know it is out there.

Too bad we aren't in town, I would like to understand why people enjoy American League baseball. Make the pitcher stand in the batters box, it's the only way to keep him honest. :)

Thanks for the info J and V! We've had a long 22 year dry spell, so should be interesting if they make the world series finals. I know that I am jumping the gun a bit but at least they've made the playoffs! I'm hoping I can find it on TV, but just in case gunna head to a sports bar!

    Cheers - Grant

Not really, well sort of kind of. Here's the thing about Canadian politics V: when comparing them to the circus sideshow we have here, it's akin to watching paint dry while eating a bowl of oatmeal. Their politicians are far more civilized; all except for that goofy mayor they had in Toronto (is he still in office or did he go back to being a drug addict in the street?)

But I digress. There are any number of sports bars around, but you need to leave Sun City which is always scary, especially while having a cocktail or two. I suspect that's why folks are excited about the tavern opening on Grand Ave next to Beals.

When we first bought here in 1999, we used to love to go to the dog tracks in Wisconsin. Never did get into the horses much, way too much time between races. Arizona had off track betting (OTB), which allowed simulcasting and betting in a handful of bars. There is a large shopping center on the corner of Boswell and Bell Road (where Ace Hardware is) and a bar there had applied for an OTB license and got it.

I guess they figured the old farts in Sun City would be flocking in to bet on the dogs and horses. We went once or twice but it was kind of dumpy and not the same atmosphere as being at the track. Seems to me it lasted a little over a year and then disappeared from sight. Bars have historically struggled in Sun City.

Now that I think about it, baseball is a lot like Canadian politics.

I realize not everyone was fortunate enough to grow up in the Cincinnati area during the 70's, and personally witness the play of the greatest baseball team ever. Because of that, I give a pass to folks who don't understand the draw of baseball. But given it's history and, in National League play, the strategy involved, I would have thought you would have been a fan. Ahhh, but let's see, the Brewers would have been in the AL back in the day, huh? Now I understand.

4n6 - 22 years is a long time, but Toronto won back to back didn't they (92 & 93). John Olerud, Gary Carter, Jeff Kent, David Wells, Jack Morris, David Cone? Those were the teams that made it a true "World" Series.

I want to see teams in Mexico, Cuba, and/or the Dominican Republic. That would give the game a kick in the pants.

OK I'll bite....yes Canadian politics is a lot like watching paint dry... our federal election this year is 11 week long campaign done and over. What can I say...yours well it is like watching a soap opera. It should be interesting with Trump in the mix, Cruz born is Canada, Clinton, Christie and the list goes on. I have to say I enjoy watching the debates.

Yes the mayor of Toronto kinda put us on the map....he is no longer the mayor, crazy fool IMO.

V: Yes it has been a long time and it was back to back and bye bye. Great team back then and went for a long slide. Should be a good post season...but in reality my heart is in hockey....oh BP what the heck is lawn bowling:friendly_wink:

Being a lifelong Yankees fan, I can't let this comment pass. The Big Red Machine was a nice little club but come on...

What model do you have? I am in Phase 2 with Gemini model D35 I think.

IMHO, Phase 2 is the best location. It is within about a mile of 3 of the rec centers - Bell, Sun Dial, & Lakeview. And within 2-3 miles of 2 grocery stores and several drug stores. Also, most of your medical/dental needs can be taken care of within 2-3 miles. I have a nice dentist and doctor and will give names if wanted. Also, a good Medicare Advantage Program.

Jays have been in a tight race with the Yankees this year and it looks like the Jays may take the AL East. Sure has been fun to watch the last few weeks.

Went to the museum and thought I had it all figured out but know I can't remember ...LOL. There has been some renovations so the floor plan looks different than in the books at the museum. We're Canadians and only here for 6 months at a time.. 1 month for now until we retire in 2017.
