The Sun City Fire and Medical Department can install a smoke detector in your home for free. They can install your detector, replace an existing one or install a new one in homes that do not have any. Sun City Fire will not disconnect any smoke detectors that are connected to the homes power supply, but can assist in replacing batteries in the smoke detector(s). The Smoke Detector Program includes a Home Safety Survey which will help you identify safety concerns in your home with a 38-point checklist of safety concerns within your home. According to Sun City Fire, there have been many fires in which smoke detectors alerted the residents to get out of the home, possibly saving their lives and averting a large loss due to the home having working smoke detectors. They can install your detector, replace an existing one or install a new one in homes that do not have any. If would like to receive a FREE smoke detector installation or would like to have your current detector inspected to ensure it is operable in times of emergency, start by contacting: • Call 623-974-2321 • Request online: https://www.scfmd.az.gov/smoke-detector-request • Email smokedetector@scfmd.az.gov for you FREE appointment today! # From SCHOA News September 7, 2025 https://www.icontact-archive.com/ar...f7c91ccdfc975f1248db2d3c171ef4e642767657d7e63
Thought provoking comment posted on Nextdoor: “So, how is it they can come do this for free but can’t help someone who has truly fallen down and can’t get back up on their own? Just truly truly curious…Yes, in a perfect world we should all have Life Alert, or some such other service, but it’s not a perfect world!”
last Year 2024 the Sun City Fire Department did this and was only for section / phase 1 and I was told the Fire Detectors were all Donated from the Smoke Detector Company.
Sounds like they install for free, not provide the detector. “They can install your detector, replace an existing one or install a new one in homes that do not have any. If would like to receive a FREE smoke detector installation or would like to have your current detector inspected to…”
