I was driving down Thunderbird yesterday and got behind a car that had two stickers in its rear window. I know that I have not memorized them quite right but I am pretty sure that I got the main drift of them.

“NO ONE owes you anything”. It was a bit longer but I don’t think that my summation alters the meaning. The same is true for the other which read, “OUTRAGED? No body cares.”

If anyone has the complete text for these please post them.

Anyway, mulling these over from 3 a.m. to 5 a.m. I came to the conclusion that since I have paid into social security for half a century that the government owes me a check every month. I feel that since I’ve paid my local taxes I am owed an education for my kids and decent roads to drive on. My brother-in-law who borrowed $125 from me still owes me that and the drunk who crashed into my fence owes me a new one.

When I described the stickers to my brother he was outraged and I suspect that there are probably 30 million other people who are also outraged by these sentiments. I believe that the person should have said “I don’t care” and that would be a statement of fact. However there is a certain group of people who like to present their beliefs as being universal, hence the use of the words “no one” and “nobody.”

What are your thoughts on the subject?

His car he can put whatever he wants on it. It would not be my choice to stay awake thinking about it for 2 hours. So your brother was outraged? Does that mean he wants everyone to think like he does? They are just words. As if there is not enough discourse in today's world let's add the meaning of bumper stickers to the list of things to argue about.

One of the constant knee-jerks from the right when criticized is to pretend that what I or someone said was that the person, in this case the car owner, should not be able to say or print or publish in any way, what they did. Also the claim that any criticism involves wanting everyone to think the same. That is not true. I do not chose to stay awake thinking about this or any stuff. It's a side effect of other things in my life. Don't you think maybe that publishing something using the words "Nobody or No one" is an attempt to pretend that everyone thinks as the poster does? Words have meanings.

It does not mean anything. Ignore the bumper stickers. Who cares if he chooses to say no one. you won't change his mind. it's an opinion. i don't care if every chicago white sox fan is upset because i have a cubs sticker on my car.

Making this a right/left thing is nuts. you never posted the context of the stickers. You were just triggered by 2 words.

He still ask for a clarification of the language of the stickers to grasp the entire content. I certainly believe CT believes in freedom of speech but it is analytical of same as am I.

So you are the reason the Cubbies have been terrible since the All Star break. Tear the sticker off and hide in your abode until the last game of the season. I have been a fan longer than most people have been alive. Thanks grandpa.

Using that logic you and gramps would be the reason they didn't win a World Series between 1908 and 2016. Why do you always have to stick your two cents in where it's not needed or wanted.

It's beyond me why you would even want to interact with someone you consider an Oak Lawn Skank, so just don't.

You have absolutely no sense of humor, none whatsoever. BTY, my grandfather saw them win the World Series in 1908 and saw the White Sox, the hitless wonders, win in 1906. He also personally saw the Cubs play in the World every time between 1906 and 1945. He also didn’t haven’t a Cubs sticker on his car so your logic is lame.
    Vacation con dios.

for someone as smart as you claim to be why in God's name would I even think you have a shred of decency or sense of humor? You called me a whore, an efin Katlick, refer to my rosary as juju beads and so much more. I don't care about your relatives or you. you can't even understand that simple fact. in fact I am surprised you are agnostic, otherwise somewhere down the line in your many careers you would have claimed to be Him, not to mention doing a better job.

Nobody wants to go to prison, nobody wants to go to hell, nobody wants to go to war, and something you and I understand very well unfortunately is nobody wants to get cancer. It's a word.

Actually (another of the 27 words and phrases that mean "in my opinion") it's not just a word.
Above you posted "It does not mean anything. Ignore the bumper stickers.", again I will say that it does mean something. Words do mean something. And why ignore something that someone has gone out of their way to stick in my face? That, or any bumper sticker, did not just appear on the car some dark night. It was intentionally placed there so that the person driving behind that car could read it.

I seriously doubt he was picking you specifically to direct whatever message offended you so much. We have free speech here. That's why Dave intentionally posted for all to see that he thinks I am a whore, and why I can say I think he is an idiot. In fact I could put a bumper sticker on my car saying Dave is an idiot and it would be fine as it does not identify a specific person. Of course all Dave's might choose to ruin my vehicle, but it's 20 years old, sun fried from parking at the hospital for 10 hours a day for 17 years so it would be fine with me. In fact if/when it breaks down I will put the key on the seat and call my neighbor for a ride.

So you drag one of your previous posts obviously to embarrass me or some other dark agenda. So name one thing in those posts I said that’s not true.

For clarification, I am not an agnostic, I am an atheist. Look up the difference.
Finally, grandpa, as the baseball enthusiast that he was also saw at least one game in the 1919 World Series, a/k/a the Black Sox scandal. He saw all the great old timers that filled the Hall of Fame. A baseball life well lived.

    Vaya con dios.

You just don't get it. You mean nothing to me. As far as previous posts history matters right? At least it does on this forum for now.

I don't know either you or Dave but I suspect that you are not a whore nor is he an idiot. Listen carefully. Nowhere have I suggested that the person who exhibited those stickers did not have the right to do so. I do feel that if one publicly says something then it is a fair topic for discussion or debate. I have seen this repeatedly in public discourse from the right that when someone challenges something, often the truthfulness of some claim they have made, their response is "I have freedom of speech to say anything I like" rather then defending the veracity of what they said. It's as if they feel no obligation to the truth. As if living in a post-truth world means that they have to lie.

Einar go rest. The stickers don't matter. If they bother you that much what in the hell does a Rottie sticker do to you? It's a freaking bumper sticker. Liberals get disturbed by everything. Dave called me a whore and a fucking catholic. ok. IMO he is an idiot for doing so. Get over the bumper sticker, or not. Fuss about it forever. no one gets out of here alive but you go ahead and fret over words. I will let you know what my choice will be when I find out if my cancer is back for the 3rd time. Jesus my maid of honor never knew. I chose never to tell her.

The bottom line is what difference does it make? Frankly what I see today I am ready for the next life.

Yeah, yeah. We all know you have done everything and done it better than anyone. You have had every job on the planet. You are the best of the best. The master meat cutter. Butchers far and wide envy you and you have seen "the afterlife".

Well is is something I think about more than bumper stickers and I'd like to be ready too but there are a lot of places where I'd not like to surface next time. Gaza for example, or somewhere in the greater Sudan and lots more. Liberals do not get disturbed at "everything" - look up "everything" and remember, that words have meanings.
