Labor Day or Day to Rest?

image.jpg While on vacation, we rest. I guess that's what vacation means (should look it up in the dictionary). So, for this weekend, I hope you find time to rest, too. The picture is of my husband and three-year old grandson in New Jersey.

What do you do on a rainy day?

image.jpg Happy Labor Day! It is raining as we are heading home from a wonderful (dry) weekend of camping. I rather enjoy one day of rain now and then...makes me want to grab a good book, a cup of tea, and spend the day being lazy.

On rainy days in our Hot Desert Area - -I usually just feel abit lazy and do little nothings around the house... sometimes I will walk in the rain -- - if the weather is on the cooler side and the rain - -is a sprinkle.
Back in Texas I always baked when it rained ! ! So I baked a lot -- it always appeared to be cloudy, rainy, & humid near Houston- - where I was.
I prefer Hot & dry ! The sun makes me happy !

Do you feel like banging your head?

image.jpg It is not often when I would need this circle to bang on, but it does remind me how silly it is to get so bent out of shape when something doesn't go the way I planned. I had hopes of being able to get another book published (last one in March 2013) by the middle of September. When I got the proof back from the great reader, it had bold green marks everywhere. How dare he find errors in my manuscript. How dare I believe he would not. I am a better writer than editor.

So, instead of banging my head against the wall, I am banging away at the keyboard. I could still get this book done in two weeks!

don't put all your eggs in one basket
    - do not gamble & possibly lose your chance at success on one thing
or by doing one thing because failure could mean losing everything

    Our lives continually change...

image.jpg Today my daughter sent her first child to kindergarten. I noticed when she returned to the house that she was wearing sunglasses (on a cloudy day). Yes, she cried to think that her baby is growing up. And, she likes to take the children on trips throughout the year, so this changes her way of expressing her freedom.

Beginnings of a new phase of life are challenging. How did you prepare for retirement? When did you start thinking about moving to Sun City? Do you picture yourself living in SC forever (out the door feet first :) ) or do you have a plan to return to your roots, family, and friends?

Life continues to revolve. One should never be too complacent about the future. However, one should not let the future trump the present.

When I lived in the state of Washington, I did a lot of research on retirements places in Arizona.
In 2005 I visited my son & his family who live in Peoria. He took me to SC and SCW.
I liked SC the best and settled here in 2007. Another son & his wife moved nearby the following year.

I would like to live here forever!

We just returned from a trip to Oregon and although we fell in love with Portland, we would not be making a move there to make daughter happy. We drove down the coast, stayed in Monterey, loved it as well, then down to San Diego, my favorite city, and still could not wait to come back here. Every place we checked out would be far too costly and just did not have this retro bling we love. Good to finally be home.

Part of traveling is the anticipation of the adventure, the preparation and planning. We are a week out of returning back to Sun City from our six-week get-away. I am ready to come home. I am ready for my own bed, my own shower, my own kitchen -- mug and tea kettle. I only began to think of my home yesterday--the yard, the birds, bunnies, and stuff I miss when I am gone.

Getting away makes me happy to return home and to take time to think about how blessed I am to have a wonderful home and community. Getting away gives me the chance to reunite with friends and family--such a blessing, too. I am twice blessed and even more!

Do you get away from Sun City long enough to appreciate going home?

I am over the travel bug.
No place I want to go or see.
    Been all over the world.

Friends & relatives can now come to visit me in this "paradise".

Another poster referred to SC as that.

Yep. Sun City, Arizona. A little bit of paradise.

I had to comment on this one since when I first moved here a woman up the street passed away and a neighbor told me that she had always said she only wanted to leave feet first so when she saw the coroner taking her out head first, the neighbor asked that they go back in, turn it around, and fulfill the "feet first" wish literally!

    Too cool!

I love it, SCJ! This is what I want, so must share this with my husband in case he survives me.

    Do you have unfinished business?

"Regrets...I have a few..." We all do. It is my desire to leave this earth (feet first :abnormal:) being able to say I have forgiven all and have been forgiven for everything I've ever done to offend someone.
