That wasn't the question because a community room that would also double as a theater would not always be available to the community as a community room. That's why there's only 2 options!
Okay thanks. Why is it still in the conversation with tri-arc? Others must not believe a theater is a “white elephant “.
No one wants a traditional old fashioned theater. You would have to make it a multi-use building. Does not make sense to put in millions for one purpose only.
Thanks Tom and I agree, though the squeaks have not worked much on previous MV attempts to renovate. Will they work this time? We shalll see. And I was hoping Dave would respond as to why the “white elephant “ was still alive.
I've long felt the one aspect missing in Sun City is the fact we don't have a "community center." I voted for a community room, at least it would be a start.
I totally love that Bill, and I think you should bring that up in an exchange. It would be nice to see an open community room weekdays. You have a very nice coffee bar there too. I personally think it would build communty and get folks speaking to each other and getting together. When people are talking to one another, good things will happen. That's a home-run Bill!!!
Okay, so here's a thought! I haven't been to the Visitors Center in years so I don't really remember how big it is. But what if, on a trial bases, we set that space up as a small Community Room just to see how much use it might get? I think the location is good right next to the Library. Look, I'm of the opinion that since the Visitor Center is closed on Friday, Saturday and Sunday it defeats its purpose and is a lost cause. People who are still working, and many visitors, can probably only visit Sun City on the weekend??? I wish we had data on how many people show-up at the Visitor Center on the weekend only to discover it's not open? They should consider relocating the Visitor Center at Lake View with the beautiful setting of the lake and Mercer Mountain. The fitness center and pool are open on weekends and at least one Facility Associate is there, so why not have that FA available to welcome guests to the Visitor Center located there as well? There's talk about eliminating all the indoor spas, so eliminate the spa in the Lake View fitness center and turn that space into the Visitors Center. The FA will always be right there! If the Community Room seems to be a hit, then that would justify seeking a larger space. Just a random thought for what it's worth!
