Is this a stupid question?

When attending a Board or Exchange Meeting, they always announce that it's prohibited for Members to record the meeting.

Question: Does it make any sense or what's the purpose of that restriction when the following day the whole meeting will be posted on the Internet?

Just one more unwelcoming and unnecessary statement.

    Just my opinion!

I suppose to prevent focusing, zooming in on board members with questionable “expressive” facial gestures when listening to member comments?!!

I have wondered the same, Tom. I suppose it is so no one can take a comment out of context. Also this practice goes back when the video may be edited before releasing. Think about the annual meeting that wasn't a meeting about three or four years ago or a year ago when the Board President edited her remarks.

I contend that, if they want to make that announcement, it should be in the Board policies. Not going to look through all of them, but I don't believe that it is written anywhere. I think it should be.

This remark goes back prior to the days when the meetings were recorded. The ARS contingent was recording the meetings, or were alleged to be recording them, and the RCSC stopped any and all recording...or at least tried to.

I have no idea what the upside is of telling people no recording. We all know it will be available the next so why anyone would bother is odd.

And don't forget the recording of the first half of that meeting was suddenly lost, which was a very important part!
I agree, but will also add, that if it were a Board Policy/Standing Rule, there would be no reason to even mention it. Just like we automatically know you can't smoke or drink alcohol in meetings. It's just a standard rule that everybody should already know.
With today's technology, anybody can zoom-in, copy, and paste from a YouTube Video!

I just think some things are better not said!

BTW, there were less than 40 Members at the Exchange today.

IMO people are just tired. There is a thread on ND with over 180 comments regarding Mt. View, pools, spas, etc.

Unfortunately, as demonstrated by the "corrupted" tape of the annual meeting the RCSC Board has shown a propensity to "craft the facts". While this may have been the most egregious ethical violation I have witnessed, it certainly is not an isolated instance.
