Wasn't it trump who told us emphatically he would have the Ukraine war over the day he took office? Nope, in fact he told us it would end even before he took office. I'll see if i can dig up that link, truth in government matters eh?

My bad, turns out he said he could end it within 24 hours of being sworn end.
"Donald Trump has repeatedly said he could settle the war between Russia and Ukraine in one day if he’s elected president again. Russia’s United Nations ambassador says he can’t."

    My bad.

Just a perspective. Nothing else. My dad, a lifelong Democrat held many jobs and each time he changed jobs it was for the benefit of his family. He worked his way up the proverbial ladder to a management position. I asked him if he ever belonged to a union, he said no, the day I have to have someone speak on my behalf is the day I would rather die. That's what unions do, they speak for the employee. That is what RCSC BOD does, they speak for the homeowners. Congratulations you gave up your voice.

As long as we enjoyed some confusion over a couple of bigger than life characters the other day, lets do a deeper dive on both today. This morning on The Bulwark, William Kristol featured an article by a highly regarded, President Reagan appointed judge, by the name of J. Harvie Wilkinson. The brutal take down by the judge was regarding the DOJ's efforts in the 4th District to attempt to stop the legal case on behalf of Kilmar Abrego Garcia from moving forward. It was denied BTW.

But that was of no surprise to anyone who pays attention to the rule of law. What was shocking was the multi-page response Judge Wilkinson wrote that included this: "If today the Executive claims the right to deport without due process and in disregard of court orders, what assurance will there be tomorrow that it will not deport American citizens and then disclaim responsibility to bring them home? And what assurance shall there be that the Executive will not train its broad discretionary powers upon its political enemies? The threat, even if not the actuality, would always be present, and the Executive’s obligation to “take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed” would lose its meaning.

Holy shiitake mushroom, shut the front door. This, i guess was in response to trump wanting to turn to deporting "home grown" next. Let's look closer at this remark, hoping the good judge was wrong: "what assurance will there be tomorrow that it will not deport American citizens and then disclaim responsibility to bring them home?"

On a lighter brighter note, for those who can't keep the Kristol/Crystal's apart, here's the latest on the comedian we all know as Billy: "Billy Crystal is currently active in several projects. He starred in the new Apple TV+ series "Before," which premiered on October 25, 2024. He also continues to reprise his voice role as Mike Wazowski in the Disney+ animated sitcom "Monsters at Work," with the second season premiering on Disney Channel in April 2024.

Truly, two sides of a different coin eh? Yet again, helping keep you all a little wiser.

Bill, if you don't think this thread should be allowed here on TOSC, why do you continue to participate in it?

I explained once Janet, i'll do again. It should have been pulled down and placed where it belonged in the "non Sun City related" section. It wasn't and poor old tired Joe was piled on often. Now that trump is suffering the fate of a doddering old man who can't live up yo his campaign promises, it seems only appropriate to share his missteps. And, i would be delighted if the admin would remove it or lock it.

For the better part of all these years we most often avoided this kind of tripe. My/our focus should be Sun City. This thread is a reminder of all the things wrong with our country at the moment. Make it go away and we all win, at least on making Sun City a better place.

You really should check your posts here around every election cycle. You even told Tom McClain to take his crap sandwich and get off the site over his politics. You have a choice. post on the thread or not. If you post here you are condoning the thread and its content. Biden has dementia and should never have been allowed to run for POTUS, but that's how dems roll. Your party would not stand up for a little boy who had brain cancer, but they are willing to use taxpayer funds to fly off to El Salvadore to have cocktails with an MS 13 gang member who beat his wife.

If you are going to lie Bill you need to have a better memory.

I thought Sun City was already the BEST place Bill. This is a post from Nextdoor. I already posted here once, however I am sure you forgot. I wonder how many others chose not to buy here for these reasons. I joined this site on 12/5/2023. Who could he have been referring to???

And just for giggles this is a post from a person who moved to SCW in August of 2020, so you all can stop blaming me for the discourse on TOSC. No names, I don't dox.

'When I was deciding where to spend the rest of my time I saw several indicators of disgruntled members in the Independent news along with Talk of SunCity. I had a hopeful view of living amongst like minded folks. Eventually I ended up here in SunCityWest among friendly (mostly) folks. There are those unfortunate who are evidently unsatisfied with their Lives and choose to be agitators. And there’s those who choose to live their lives Sequestered in the confines of their residences. Or are in a Witness Protection plan? Live your Life the way you wish for Yourself'

Kudos to the individual who was smart enough to move to a place he/she could be happy in their golden years. That makes far more sense than rotting and rooted to a community where one is miserable and constantly whining.

Life is always about what we make it; some see lemonade, while others see lemons.

One can only smile when a thread dedicated to "Purely Politics" gets crapped on by a poster who can't even stay on task with a topic that is broad enough to cover almost the most egregious of straying afar. Instead we are all treated to a comment a poster made 5 years back. Thank God i could clarify and fix the remark, bring some light to shine bright for all reading it.

Let's get back to the business at hand and stay on topic, "Purely Politics." I was going to take this special Easter holiday off and just enjoy the whole serenity of a quiet celebration on the day Christ rose from the dead. One would think we all could agree, this should be a day to put our differences aside and just let go, let God.

But alas, here i was typing a nice feel good story about the summer events scheduled by the RCSC and low and behold one of my news feeds (Newsweek) popped up with a story and this headline:
"Donald Trump's Easter Message Sparks Backlash From Critics."
Seriously Donald? You can't for a few minutes just stop with the vile hatred and raging? Come on gang, even the most trumpy amongst you has to look at his remarks and give your head a shake. The man is the president of the United States, he allegedly represents and 340 million Americans.

Rather than bore you with my opinion of what he said, let me just cut and paste his remarks on this so Holy of days:
"In a Sunday morning post on Truth Social, his social media platform, Trump wrote: "Happy Easter to all, Radical Left Lunatics who are fighting and scheming so hard to bring Murderers, Drug Lords, Dangerous Prisoners, the Mentally Insane, and well known MS-13 Gang Members and Wife Beaters, back into our Country."

He also took aim at the judiciary, writing "Happy Easter also to the WEAK and INEFFECTIVE Judges and Law Enforcement Officials who are allowing this sinister attack on our Nation to continue, an attack so violent that it will never be forgotten!"

Lastly, he turned to criticize Biden for his "Open Borders Policy," writing to all the targeted groups after attacks that he wishes them "with great love, sincerity, and affection, a very Happy Easter!!!"

Nice eh? This from a man who was "confirmed as Presbyterian and announced in 2020 that he now identifies as a non-denominational Christian."

My apologies for keeping our online community appraised of the news of the day, but some of this stuff is just too ugly, too over the top not to share.

    Happy Easter to all.

There's not enough vile language in my vocabulary to describe how much disdain i have for this woman; she of "Jewish Space Laser " fame.

Today, as the World mourns the loss of Pope Francis, a good and humble servant of God, Marjorie Taylor Greene (MTG) could keep not her mouth shut and had this to say on X just hours after his death: "Today there were major shifts in global leaderships. Evil is being defeated by the hand of God."

And then some of you wonder why some of us have trouble accepting the idea you actually voted for people like this.

You have enough foul language and hate to last you for many years. Being a devout Catholic my whole life, I was not a fan of Francis. IMO he was evil. The day I saw him slap a woman was the last straw for me, but that's just my opinion of him.

You crap on people all the time on social media and have for years, yet here you are with your "holier than thou" attitude. Like I said before, glass houses Bill.

History will show Biden was our worst president. The Hur report came out yesterday. Enjoy the read.

You kicked me off your FB site for my political beliefs. It bothers the heck out of you that you can't do that here. You hate this thread, but you don't have the cajónes not to post here. I saw a post earlier that summed up pretty well why SC is failing. Not on this thread though, will address that later. Keep on hating Bill. It certainly suits you.

Kind of says it all doesn't it: "Being a devout Catholic my whole life, I was not a fan of Francis. IMO he was evil."

And here i could have swore the Catholic Church taught us the Pope was infallible.

    Go figure.

BTW, where do you read the word hate in my remarks about MTG? I have disdain for her and her foolish remarks about a man who embodied the exact same tendencies Jesus Christ did while walking the earth. Was Christ "evil" as well?

PS. You were kicked off social media sites because sharing your political beliefs was against the rules. Rules matter.

The Pope is a human being. No human is infallible. Jesus walked the earth as a human being, and admitted he was not a perfect being. This pope was a far left wing progressive, not at all in alignment with the Church.

If rules mattered to you, you would not post half the stuff you post here, or didn't you read the rules. You only abide by "Bill's Rules of Order".

Well this didn't take long, and most of us that pay attention knew from the moment his name was uttered, it wasn't going to be a match made in heaven:

This headline just screamed across my news feed:

Exclusive: The White House is looking to replace Pete Hegseth as defense secretary.

Apparently, Pete can't stop using the Signal application on his personal phone to reach out to family and friends to share war plans. The latest scandal included his wife, brother and his attorney. The brother and the attorney are reported to have jobs at the Defense Department while he has started bringing his wife to high level meetings.

Goodness, and the hits just keep on coming for trump et al.

Papal infallibility is a dogma of the Catholic Church which states that, in virtue of the promise of Jesus to Peter, the Pope when he speaks ex cathedra is preserved from the possibility of error on doctrine "initially given to the apostolic Church and handed down in Scripture and tradition".

I guess your argument is with the Dogma police, not me.

I did ask Google if Pope Francis was Jesus-like? Here's the answer i got:

    Humility and Simplicity:

Pope Francis has been noted for his humble demeanor and simple lifestyle, often emphasizing that Christians should focus on serving others rather than accumulating wealth or power. This resonates with Jesus' teachings of humility and self-sacrifice.

    • Compassion and Concern for the Poor:
Pope Francis consistently speaks out on behalf of the poor, the marginalized, and the vulnerable, echoing Jesus' focus on caring for the marginalized. He actively seeks to understand and address their needs.
    • Focus on Mercy and Forgiveness:
Pope Francis emphasizes God's mercy and the importance of forgiveness, a core message of Jesus' teachings. He encourages people to extend compassion and understanding to others, even when they have made mistakes.
    • Walking with His People:
Pope Francis is seen as a leader who is willing to walk alongside his people, not just from a position of authority, but as a shepherd who listens and understands their struggles. This mirrors Jesus' willingness to connect with ordinary people and share their lives.
    • Concern for Creation:
Pope Francis is a strong advocate for environmental protection, echoing Jesus' emphasis on caring for God's creation.
    • Interreligious Dialogue:
Pope Francis has actively promoted interreligious dialogue and understanding, a path that resonates with Jesus' message of love and reconciliation.

Fake News? Really? You mean like January 6 never happened?

My money is on Hegseth not lasting the week. By the way, those "disgruntled Defense Dept employees" who were terminated weren't Biden guys, they were trump guys who hated the shit show the former Fox news weekend host was running.

    Just saying eh?

Francis was "different". The Catholic church has changed a lot over the years. But if you get your jollies by trying to beat me down go for it. After all you always have been a bully as you said about yourself, you don't care about anyone but you. Others don't matter. I have the post you made regarding this.
