In a Aug. 21 2013 letter to the Sun City Independent titled "Seniors Clogging Roadways" Claxton Campacci wrote that he contacted the governor and "proposed that the speed limit on Bell and Thunderbird roads be raised to 50 mph and anyone driving less than 40 mph is eligible for a $500 ticket." Input?

Crazy to up the speed limit on Bell. I avoid Bell at all costs because of crazy drivers.

I'm trying to picture people traveling on Bell at 50 mph from one stop light to the next......it's not a pretty picture. Not to mention that the traffic is so bad that, other than the dead of night, traffic doesn't even travel at 40 mph for much of it.

Let me understand this. Seniors are clogging up the roadway in a area of town made for seniors? Who is this guy?

This is how he defines himself in the paper: "As an elderly/ancient resident of Sun City, I am proud to announce I just secured a job that requires me [sic] drive outside of Sun City in the morning and return home in the late afternoon Monday through Friday. The job is in Phoenix, so I go east in the a.m. and west in the p.m."

So then his request for others not to drive during "his time" is purely selfish. Still sounds like a funny concept to propose...that seniors within a retirement community not drive in it. And I mean funny as in...it makes me laugh.

Not that I haven't had a few choice words for some of the drivers on our Sun City roads....but in time I have come to realize that frustration is not good for the soul, so I either avoid the busy times, or deal with the foibles of our local drivers with humor rather than annoyance.

Selfish indeed," but with a strong desire to control.
Get a load of this part where we are asked where we're going and told when we should be eating--also note the stereotypes and the tone:
"Where in the heck are all of you going? Luby's is out of business, Costco's free buffet is not open yet, and you can get a senior coffee at McDonald's any time of the day. In the afternoon, if you would move dinner up on the schedule and eat at 2 p.m., it becomes a win-win situation." Yep, like you said Cynthia, "funny as in...it makes me laugh."

How will we be profiled? By grey hair.
In that case just wear a hat or wig!

    I avoid Bell whenever possible.
    Thunderbird isn't much better.
    And forget Grand.

Oh man, his statements get more and more weird. There is no win-win here, only his-win. How does anyone have the nerve to request this?

What's this about a free buffet at Cosco's.
    It sounds interesting.
