Why the Lakeview remodel will be so important

I love dogs and all animals too. I am talking about how to spend our limited resources for the best good of all the people here. If the dog club wants to build a large tented space someplace, go for itI just don't want a million dollars spent on an arena for dog events, unless the arena is for many many many events. Okay.

I know! Your old UID was listed under Admins. I emailed the owners a few weeks ago and they knew about the error.

    Dave,
I have been reviewing case law as well as pouring over Arizona Revised Statutes for a supporting document that allows the board to perform the actions currently being taken against the members.
Do you have anything to draw on from your experience?
    Thanks

The Lakeview remodel is a critical part of the equation, but what the hell needs to be done to get poor Mountainview on the books? It’s reaching a critical point in needing to be maintained and brought back to life. Get that famed PAC out of the picture, not needed and presents more problems than it needs to.
I look at other new builders of active adult communities, and only one has added an arts center. Why are they not continuing to add this as a feature? Because it’s a costly add on that sits empty more than 80% of the time and adds cost to the members in their assessment. The community in Oro Valley has the highest HOA feees of any other community they have built, guess why? The additional cost to maintain such an endeavor will most certainly increase the yearly assessment just to cover the cost of having such a project. I don’t think the bulk of the members want to pay more so the players can put on shows. I can agree to remodel the current auditorium but we don’t have a need for anything close to what some want to stick there. It’s not needed anywhere in Sun City, so drop this endeavor, stop adding costs and time to the remodeling schedule and get moving forward with the needed renovations.

    Gee.

It was mentioned here that The Grand Bldg was negotiated in the dark of night (forgot who said it), then the whole library fiasco with no member conversation. then the T-Bird Bldg bid with no member conversation, and the $87k desk at Fairway. It has been said that Sun City is a contractor's dream come true.
How long before all these expenditures make SC unaffordable due to PIF/CIF/Assessment increases and why aren't we using this money to repair what we have and spruce up this little town. Factor in lack of trust in the board members and businesses closing or moving something is just not right.
Just my opinion, and yes I know it's not popular so no need for hate comments. I have seen them all.

Not when the issue is do we need it? What about the current buildings that need repair? What kind of shape is the building in? How much space is currently utilized in our current buildings? Past boards got us into this position. Just like the government, spend, spend, spend. RCSC can't print more money though.
Why not work on cleaning up SC? Maybe spend some money so we have enough people to check violations. I reported a yard full of the invasive stink net weed. Tooks weeks to address. Someone sprayed something now there is a yard full of dead stink net. I just watched 3 people on my street bring prefab sheds onto their back yards. I see Pergolas all over the place. I would like one so why not?
Someone said on the Union Hills thread "Sun City is looking more like the inner city these days." But hey, let's buy more buildings we can't afford. More pickle ball courts. (wonder how long that will be a trend) How many belong to PAC and how many attend? Do we need something like the Petrillo Music Shell?
BTW it's not just me who feels this way.

The people who changed the names of everything from Military Bases to Pancake Syrup sure seem really mad about the Gulf of America thing...

I am 100% to a master plan, I agree with bringing on a person to guide the community forward in a transparent way. I just don't feel relying on member votes as the most prudent way to achieve the needs of the community. So, if you are asking me if I trust a member vote to be the best way to accomplish needed renovations in a timely and cost effective manner, no I do not. The current boondoggle at MV with so0meone trying to stick a PAC there or Lakeview is a joke. This community does not need a PAC and the members should not be held hostage to such a disastrous folly that they will have to pay for many ,ore years to come.
There is a person who insists there is a need to clean up the current community. Are you suggesting the RCSC make mandates and create covenants directing the appearance of the homes here? Clean up what? SCHOA is the resource for that. If you see residents breaking the rules and do nothing to stop the violation, then you are also a part of the problem.

You did not address anyone, but I think you are replying to me. I responded because when I make suggestions, as shown above, I get verbally assaulted. You say the same and are praised.

There is a letter in the Independent about a woman who needed help with assessment. Read it. Similar scenario as I had last year and I was told nobody gave a shit about me, yes on this site.

As far as reporting violations I really don't give a rats ass what happens here. I reported a class 3 rapist (class 3 meaning he used date rape drugs first) contractor recommended by SCHOA who skipped out on his trial in CA, was wanted by CA FBI, ruined my roof, I still have the email chain with the admin, Rodney and Rick. I went through 10 months of pure hell with the company and the HOA folks all said "but people like them". I even sent the FBI wanted sheet along with all communication.

So Carole I guess I will be part of the problem. I will not report violations. After my welcome from Bill here and the lovely letter from you, and all the crap from Dave I am pretty much done with Sun City. All I can do from now on is tell people anywhere I happen to be if they are thinking of purchasing here don't. The nurse at my docs office just purchased in Youngtown. People I know who live there love it. I asked about crime and was told it a slice of peace sandwiched between El Mirage and Sun City. I still don't know if my neighbor who was stabbed died. I am assuming so as the house was closed up for a while.

Bottom line is at my age if I find another place to live wonderful, if not I will live out my life right here warning others.

Why not include the millions to be spent on golf? Golf is the true losing proposition. Reality sucks in this case! ( imho )

    Okay Josie,
You didn’t address the question I posed. You constantly criticize what Sun City looks like. Again are you saying you want to impose retroactive covenants on homeowners? What are you specifically saying about the community? Are there 60 year old homes here? Yep! Are you suggesting makeovers for the outside of these homes?
Did you kindly suggest the foundation for her to seek help from. Or did you simply tell her it’s too bad to be her??
So, how many more years are you going to commiserate about ancient history? Yeah, yeah Bill said something you didn’t like. How about all the times you have said unfavorably tart comments about every subject that has appeared on TOSC? Or everyone on this site? I will once again say you are a smart person with good writing skills. It’s a shame you seem to be intent on demeaning all posters when you could be doing so much to improve the quality of TOSC. In my humble opinion.

Don't care now. I did not want the PAC, T-Bird, just wanted the 20 million deferred maint taken care of. Had you read my posts you would have understood that but you and Eileen were hell bent on making SC Glitz and Glam.

Again had you paid attention to what I said it was an article in the Independent. Speaking to the newspaper page did not help her.
I had not had any contact with Bill for years. I got on here, he attacked the first day, doxed me then went all ape from there as he is known for. Then all the BBK followed suit. Of course I defended myself.

It's a shame you all followed Bill's lead in my opinion. When I was broke last year and asked for help but had ONE issue Your Bill said no one gives a shit who you are. During the election things changed a little, but then you showed up.

I have been coming here for 40 years, moved here 20 years ago. The place is horrid now. Who recommends a rapist to their contractor list. What kind of board screws members. How did previous boards (you included) not know about the 20 mil deferred maintenance. not one person looked at the financials?

It doesn't matter. Anyone who disagrees with Bill gets booted from chit chat. He chewed Tom McClain up here telling him to take his crap sandwich somewhere else, but all was good because bill told tom's wife to tell him merry christmas. what a guy. RCSC is nothing but problems and so is the HOA. Bill has the balls to bitch about this administration who has been in office for 30+ days. All of you have been here for 15 years and things have never been this bad.

I suggested as did Cynthia and Stephen many times bringing in an outside person to fix things. Now I really don't care. Y'all do what you do. I really dislike having a good memory, but any point I bring up I will be able to find the quote from whoever said it.

Several really good pieces of news from today's board meeting: First the board passed the motion to move forward immediately with finding an outside consultant to help them create a master plan. They fumbled about for a bit over the verbiage, but ultimately acted on the recommendation initially made by the Long Range Planning committee, and to proceed immediately by waving the second reading. I know members of the LRP committee were pleased as this has been bantered about for at least two years in the committee. I'm not a fan of waving second readings but the sense from the board was virtually everyone is interested in seeing this move post haste.

The second piece was a part of this motion but was passed independent of the other motion. It was an excellent effort to try and get this Mountain View project moving off the dime. In essence, the motion said the creation of the master plan will in no way impede or interfere with the Mountain View remodel. As Preston Kise noted, those members living near the center have waited far too long already.

On another positive note, a motion passed it's first reading incorporating social media into the internal messaging efforts. This is an important step as the general manager has been reluctant to let the staff use social media as a tool. It was clear from the board discussion they recognize the importance of adopting a more far reaching policy in their communication efforts.

I was late to the meeting, but apparently the board president addressed the board's actions regarding the annual membership meeting and the submitted bylaws. I'll have to watch it like those of you not in the room. Should be up tomorrow sometime. Curious what he had to say, because tabling them all was clearly a bad look for the board.

Here's the video. Just click on the Watch on YouTube. Nothing much new on the Member's meeting. Tom's comments were just doubling down on the reason why they are sending everything back to the board for study. There were no concessions made to the members.

From one involved Member to another -- THANK YOU for the work that you do and have done. No one can say that you aren't putting your heart and soul into all you do. While I'm not positive that this is the time to talk 'lawsuit,' as we have seen in the past, perhaps just letting the rumor take hold that it is being contemplated, may get the BOD and the Members talking!
