(AZFamily) — It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years since two sneaky llamas became international superstars, leading cowboys and Sheriff’s deputies on a wild chase through Sun City, Arizona. On February 25, 2015, therapy llamas Laney and Kanita managed to escape during a visit to an assisted living facility, leading to a crazy two-hour pursuit with their handlers, local residents, and even the sheriff’s deputies trying to get them back. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office admitted they threw everything they had at the situation, but the playful llamas had a mind of their own. The chase was so entertaining that major news networks around the world jumped in to broadcast live as the llamas zipped through parking lots and streets. In a scene straight out of a cowboy movie, bystanders in a pickup truck finally managed to lasso the llamas, bringing the hilarious adventure to a close. Although they were a little tired, both llamas were just fine and happily returned to their handler. #Llamadrama quickly turned into a viral Even the Arizona Cardinals football team got in on the action, jokingly offering the llamas one-year contracts and 2,340 pounds of hay.
