Quote from Sun City Chat FB page:

"The volunteers at the Sun City Visitor (Welcome) Center just received word that management will be relocating the center to Fairway. We are very disappointed in the decision. We have a beautiful and visible location with a welcoming interior at our current location. I think we give an excellent first impression of Sun City to prospective owners and provide first class information to current residents.

Many of us have volunteered for up to 10 years and we are enthusiastic residents of Sun City and project that enthusiasm to visitors. It will be very sad to see the proposed change." -ED

    WHY??!!

Because I'm the GM and I can do what I want!

Makes one feel all warm and fuzzy to know the GM and BOD care so much. From John Fast yesterday:

I cannot overemphasize Bill's observation. I met today with the organizers of the recall petition at the Lakeview center where they had a table set up for the recall and this is the last thing they wanted to be doing. As I was talking to them, we saw the Board, management and architects walk in for a secret meeting. The GM did the petition organizers the courtesy of a drive by where he stopped rolled down the window and said the table was set up in fire lane (which I believe only applies to the ingress and egress pavement), and suggested it be moved to a place where no one would see it. He then smirked and said how you are doing on getting 3,000 signatures. I asked that they move the table to a place where the curb wasn't painted red. He then sent out a safety employee to check on what was going on.

I am stunned at this move. What is the possible logic behind taking it from a highly visible location and putting in one that is less accessible?

What was the old adage regarding real estate? Location, location, location.

We shouldn't be changing for change's sake. I hope there is good reasoning for this change, but I don't know what it could be.

Not the library E, most likely where the check in desk was for the fitness area. Not sure how much room is there. I guess the bigger question is what will be going in the existing Visitor Center at Bell. We know the clubs department was moved to Oakmont taking what used to be club space. We also know we have grown the safety department and housed them somewhere. Plus we know the space the old camera club and Mac club was in at Sun Dial was converted to more RCSC space.

To add to the discourse is i have heard (not seen) we blew through our 2024 budget by a lot?

And that is the issue with Sun City now. Other than the rec centers and golf there is nothing to attract anyone now. The strip malls are all medical office buildings now. I am sorry but if it was because of the internet why does SCW still have their shopping centers, the Sun Dome area, all the resale shops, many restaurants including two very nice ones. The centers at the corner of Bell and Grand are always full. Purchasing clothes online is a pain because of fit. Online is fine for electronics but most other stuff not so much.

What the heck are they thinking? This is the dumbest decision I've heard so far

If they want to move it, the most logical place, in my opinion, is Lake View where you can show-off the lake and Mercer Mountain, as well as Member Services!

It appears that no matter what, the board and the GM are going to do what they want, when they want. Residents be damned!! It's like a mini-Venezuela!

That's what it says in this month's management report. Plus one other option i had never heard of:

"Considering options to relocate Welcome Center, perhaps to Fairway. Space may become the location for Sun City Foundation and Documented Process Development Lab."

    Tom
I just looked at the RCSC Management Report dates November 21, 2024 that was on the table when I walked in and on Page 6 at the very bottom it says:

“Considering options to relocate Welcome Center, perhaps to Fairview. Space may become the location for Sun City Foundation and Document Process Development Lab”

I thought you and others might like to see

On high authority, the offer to locate at the Welcome Center was withdrawn today by the Sun City Foundation.

Yes, my "high authority" let me know that a Board member informed them that they would not be moving.

This corporation - approximately $30M worth - is run like some "rinky-dink" operation. He said, she said, immature decision making without any planning......how have we stayed in business successfully all these years??!!

Not a comedy; a tragedy. It's our money that is being wasted.

As a new Foundation Director, I can assure you the Foundation is not taking the place of the Visitors Center at Bell. Management offered it to the Foundation and the Foundation has declined the space. To be clear, the SC Foundation did not request the space and does not need that space. I have no idea what the Document Process Development Lab is. This is the first I have heard of it. Just the facts!
