YES! They passed the first reading that would locate the new PAC at the location of the Lawn Bowling Courts.

Some tried to postpone the vote but that failed, then some tried to amend the motion so that the PAC would be located at Lake View but with no location being determined until a comprehensive plan for the total renovation of Lake View could be done. That failed too.

They ended up voting on the original motion.

The board "listened" to everybody's opinion but they didn't "hear" a thing.

There is now talk about starting a Recall Petition to fire the whole bunch!!

Unconscionable after all that objection. Some are pursuing recall of all.

When they came back from their "pow wow" in the back, they asked how many lawn bowlers and shuffleboarders were in the audience? And then I heard a board member say "why didn't the players club show up?" Because they knew it was a done deal. Period.

And what does it matter who all the people were??? There were lake owners there and if the people on social media would show up, there are plenty of others.

They are going to ruin Lakeview.

Lakefront owner meeting is being organized to begin recall proceedings…
10% membership signatures required per petition, about 3,000 for EACH individual director, 27,000 signatures, total!

Session attendance was decent, nothing like the library issue. Predominantly Lawn Bowlers spoke. Several members called for master plans before doing anything.

What do you expect when someone posts this on social media.

while I found your explanations spot on and easily understandable, you must know that a good percentage of our population is obtuse at best and wouldn’t 7nderstand non-profits if Big Bird came down and explained it. Then we have the dog club which to me is the like the car club with fur. I spoke with the club president when this first surfaced and learned that while teaching River c how to run in between sticks, the real purpose is for the two legged creatures to hang out and shoot the bull. So what they want is an air conditioned social club house so they can hang out, throw seasonal parties while Ruffy learns to run in circles to catch his/her tail.

Talk about a slap in the face. How many others dislike the residents here and think this way about them. How do they talk about us when it's just them. At least they are smart enough not to blast is all over social media.

Josie, I was just quoting what the Board asked and the players didn't show up because they already knew it was a done deal is my understanding. I don't understand your comments here. But so be it. My point was that it should NOT matter who is in the audience, it matters that the overwhelming thoughts were opposed to the motion. But rather, they will listen to the smallest group that is the loudest to them. Period.

And I corrected it - the Board asked how many lawnbowlers and shuffleboarders were in the audience, not pickleballers.

    3,000 people can sign 9 different petitions, can't they? That's not 27,000 different signatures required...only 3,000.

Or am I looking at this incorrectly?

My point was that someone on the bod or a committee made those remarks. This person obviously does not care about residents. Someone with that attitude should not be in any position, and thats only one we know of. What about the others? Do they think we are "obtuse" as well?

3,000 different member signatures on a single petition. Those same 3,000 members can sign each of the nine Director recall petitions.
    3,000 members sign 9 petitions.
27,000 member signatures are submitted on the petitions to begin the nine recall process.

Nine petitions each with 3,000 member signatures for a total of 27,000 member signatures.
A Member can sign one - all nine petitions.

From what I hear the board had made up its mind. I, for one, am grateful that many members showed up to share their views. Many valid concerns were expressed, and I felt like the board had gone out of their way to exclude member input but was obligated by the Bylaws to allow members to speak to the motion. Very disappointing but I encourage members to write to the board and ask questions at the candidate forum and at the Board meeting. This is truly a very important decision.

As mentioned, I did not hear any member speak in favor of the motion. The concerns I heard were as follows:
    1. The members with homes on the lake were not consulted.
    2. It is irresponsible to plop a building on a site without first having a site plan.
    3. Views from the lobby of a theater are not a major consideration since most of the time spent in a theater is spent in a windowless enclosure.
    4. Noise from the nearby train tracks will be an issue.
    5. There are alternate sites that would not disrupt existing amenities.
    6. The destruction of the lawn bowling lanes would impact our standing as a world class lawn bowling center.
    7. The board did not follow the decision-making process they said they said they would.
    8. Members questioned whether the architect had been provided a conclusion and then asked to support it.
I feel like it is Deja vu all over again. A few members of the board seem to have become combative, and one gets the impression, again, that members don't matter. The board members and GM seem to be spending their time trying to spin their pet projects and limiting member input by manipulating the political process.

Others may have a different view of these events.

    Best Regards and God Bless.

Putting in the figure of 27,000 isn't necessary...in my opinion.
    But thanks for the math.

I'm still disgusted, but I believe Tom was the only one that voted NO. He's the only one that has signs all over Sun City, so that could be it. But probably not a lot of worry given there are only 6 people running for 5 positions.

Good question!!!! (Vote with your vote) Because I don't trust my old, hearing-impaired ears, I will have to wait until the video comes out.

I think it depends on what the petition says. It must state exactly what the Members will be voting on if they are successful in getting enough signatures. The initiators of the petition should be very careful of the wording. It can't be changed once signatures are collected. It's possible to list all nine Directors on one petition or a separate one for each one. Personally I would not sign a recall petition at this time.
