Jean, I remember. Too bad the board is once again lined up against the membership. From all appearance's they are more interested in self-serving decisions than charting a course for the good of the membership. I am disgusted by the hypocrisy but feel powerless to do anything about it. Bottom line is the Board has once again carved up the pie to their individual liking. I know Bill was up in arms about cheap golf but is muted about the heist being undertaken. Again, he has taken more than his share of slings and arrows so I can understand if he has realized that you cannot fight city hall. Best regards and God Bless, John
Good Lord, try and recruit lawyers and CEO's for the Board. Plant Managers for the GM. Former Non-Profit leaders for the Foundations, and I have no clue for the HOA as they don't check for violations or vet recommended contractors. Or hire a management company. I would be willing to pay for people who know what they are doing. It would probably save us a lot of money in the long run, rather than saying Oh yeah we should have a 14 million PAC, it would look pretty.
"EyesOpen" quoted what president Foster said but the latest agenda indicates that director Collins is making a motion on Monday re: the PAC. Vote right after listening to what the members have to say! Are minds already made up? One read? Two reads? FYI says Special Sessions don't need two reads. Data never showed a need for a new building. The thought of creating a master plan has been ignored. Clear as mud. I cannot believe that Sun City - with a budget near $30M - still is. Jean
You and I have disagreed many times mostly on politics, how you have just stated what I have been saying for a year. Look back at my posts saying SC is failing and why. Time for some to shut the heck up and leave, and time for new people to take over.
For a person who hates living in Sun City and wants to leave Josie, it is truly amazing at the foolishness pouring forth from your poor addled brain. Sun City is a spectacular place to live. No one is saying it is without problems; the beauty is we have the type of governance where we can speak up and out about what we want and expect. It's how we were built, and it is still how it functions. You do none of the above, you simply moan about how much you and a small cadre of people living here are unhappy. You made the most of the library, oops resolved. You whined about the building on Thunderbird, oops resolved. We have no idea about the outcome of the PAC at Lakeview, we'll see. My guess is you won't have your butt in the chair come Monday's meeting, but if you do, please feel free to share your thoughts. That's how self-governance works. What we do know is you've never been involved; never rolled up your sleeves and helped; never joined a committee or ran for a position. Nope, your value added is to sit behind a keyboard and complain about those that do the heavy lifting. Spare me the self-righteous indignation about being attacked, since you arrived on TOSC in Dec of 2023, your only claim to fame is being an incessant whiner. My fervent hope is you can find some joy somewhere in your lifetime. Just a friendly reminder, it starts from within and has nothing to do with anything but you and how you choose to live your life. Clearly based on your posts you are incapable of experiencing all life has to offer. That's just sad.
I challenge you to do a little search on this site Bill and find where I said I hate Sun City. I rarely, if ever use the word hate. You are a compulsive liar, prove me wrong. You keep saying you have no clue who I am yet you claim to know all about my life. Are you clairvoyant? You used so much hate rhetoric when you thought Kamala was going to win it was sickening.
Jean and John, I wrote to the Board about the appearance of stifling comments. That is OUR Exchange meeting, not the BOD dictates what we want to share. I made the suggestion they ask people to reserve their PAC comments to the Special Session if they can attend, but that they should NOT refuse a member. I also raised there should be a Comments section in the Special Meeting so that people DON'T have to sign up to speak. Again, another way to stifle comments. Anyway, one Board member thought the Exchange statement was a good suggestion and another said we can't stop members from raising PAC issues at the Exchange. Nothing on my "comments" section statement - so better sign up to speak, if that's your desire. Regardless, speak where you need to - Exchange or Special Session, but please don't speak at both (unless a different thought arises while listening to others) - or we'll be there for the full day. Hopefully it's everyones desire to show up and we get a Library issue turnout or more -- as that's what's needed. Bring a member or two with! The Board is not listening to my many emails (and I'm sure others), nor the social media comments as I suggested to them. Just as you said John, deja'vu. Exactly like the past president's comment that the "train has left the station". So please speak up! I was told by a Board member that the decision on whether to build a PAC has been long-ago decided. Monday, they will be voting on accepting the architechts' recommendation on where to build it. Again, irresponsible spending is one of the reasons our fees will rise! We need to pay attention to how our community is being run. Please attend and share your thoughts on this huge spend that will most likely morph back into the $40M or more for both a stand-alone PAC and Mt. View! Thank you, Susan
Exactly Susan, this is how Sun City works best, when the membership shows up, speaks out and their opinions matter. It was how we were built from the very beginning. The Sun City Advocates endorsed candidates for three consecutive years, electing all 9 of those we supported. We had turned the corner on the membership not paying any attention, to becoming integral parts of the community's direction. It would be tragically sad should all of that effort become muted by the board acting out without listening to what the masses of members have to say. We'll see eh?
Yep, breaks my heart. The promise of using good utilization and trend data (both internal and external); long-range planning; and good communication/inclusion has gone out the window. Very frustrating to know back door deals must be going on. (This has been voiced in my emails.) To quote what I was informed beyond the fact that I was reminded that the decision to build a PAC has long been made, having gone through all the "proper channels" (NEWS to me): "there will be people in favor of it, and there will be people who oppose it. The decision to build a PAC has however long been made, to the delight of some and to the consternation of others. That’s life. The current issue is simply where to locate it." So I guess because we haven't had a Library attendance - this Board feels they can listen to the minority squealing the loudest. "That's life." Quite frankly, I don't think the theatre group would have a problem with a multi-use facility as long as they have a place to pursue their passion (don't forget good seats ;-) ). The Grand uses a ballroom. But for some reason, this has to be a 2-3 story monstrosity solely for theatre type activities. Limited. Makes absolutely no sense for the betterment of the community as a whole - which is the Boards' commission. They are entering a slippery slope. I also wonder how the people ON the lake feel about this? This is the type of thing that will raise fees ..... unwise spending and short-sighted planning. Please ALL do your best to get people to show up (owners on Viewpoint Lake) - even if they don't want to speak but voice agreement/opposition to those that do! Monday, Nov 11 9:00 AM Sundial Thanks!
We are not self-governed anymore. We have not been for 15+ years. Residents have no input at all. Grand Building. T-Bird Building, Fairway, Libraries and now PAC. It's sad to watch those folks sit on the platform at the meetings and dictate what they are going to do or not do. Been saying this for years. Have to laugh, community before property, people before politics.
Video from Rusty Bradshaw. He would us all to share it. (183) RCSC considers PAC location and access fee - YouTube Board Policy Resolution Section 4: SECTION 4: ACCESS FEE A one-time Access Fee per Property, as determined by the Board, shall be paid by the builder, owner or developer desiring to have access to RCSC Facilities for any land, building or structure or portion of any building or structure which is, has been or is intended to be, for use and occupancy as a dwelling unit and is real property in Sun City, Arizona located in the area entitled “Sun City General Plan, Maricopa County, Arizona,” as prepared by the Del E. Webb Development Company and dated July 1972, November 1974, August 1975, and September 1978 with subsequent amendments thereto. Said builder/owner/developer must execute a Facilities Agreement with the Corporation. Purchasers of individual Properties are also required to execute a Facilities Agreement and pay a PIF Fee, CIF Fee, Transfer Fee, annual property assessment and any other and all assessments, fees and charges as designated by the Facilities Agreement and Corporate Documents. There are no refunds available for access fees.
Hello, Again, yes putting a large building in that beautiful signature place, our lake views, gone, strolling, sitting at the waters edge and having our open serene views gone, plus the cost, to once again build another building. Lawn bowling charm, gone. If it is a done deal can we not put behind bowling alley and get rid of the fenced work yard. At least our sweet views of lake won't be destroyed. Please realize members, once gone, we can never get this back again. I don't know about you, but I moved here for enhancing the quality of my life. Please have your concerns known if you care about this!
Well said Eileen, and while the naysayer whines, the rest of us act out and speak out. One can only shake their head at the idea we have no voice. With more than 2000 posts in 11 months, her goal is to make us all hate Sun City. Sorry, not happening anytime soon. Most of us love it here. Let's recap the foolishness she has been trying to dish out: 1). The Thunderbird property was never purchased. 2). The Library leases are a done deal in spite of her claims. 3). The punch card passes have been restored and are for sale. 4). The golf car pickup/drop off is back on for the Sun Dial sale. In each case, members spoke out and were obviously listened to. That is how we have functioned for 64 years. No, we don't always get what we want, but suggesting we have no voice or say in the matter is foolishness. Staying home on Monday because a poster on this site said it won't matter simply has no clue what she is talking about. None. Whatever your position is regarding the PAC being built at Lakeview, attend the meetings on Monday. I know there has been some confusion about times so perhaps someone wants to clarify what times the two meetings start and when those attending will be allowed to speak.
Eileen I have been talking about this here and on Nextdoor for a long time. The BOD does not care about the members. They haven't for many years. I have lived here since 2004 and know exactly when things started to go south. However, because I dared to speak up I have been sworn at, berated, told I am stupid, and so much more. But now the tides are turning. Those that praised and just about held daily vigils praising the BOD are changing their tune. They are making it impossible for those of us who have been here for the long haul to afford it anymore. It's not my circus, but unfortunately, they are my clowns for a bit longer.
Do you ever just shut up? Your opinion matters to about 5 people. Where is David Copperfield when you need him?
Monday, Nov 11 at 9:00 AM - Exchange Meeting Immediately after Exchange Meeting is the Special Session - no specific meeting time (yes, brilliant), just immediately AFTER the Exchange meeting (1-3 hrs typically), and you need to sign up to speak at the Special Session as there is no agenda item for comments. This takes multiple people to generate the interest to attend - posting on here is not going to get the exposure needed. Members need to attend to voice their opinions or at a minimum support those people that are speaking in agreement with their views. Thanks!
Eileen, I think any normal process would be for the BOD to share exactly what the design vision is for the space, versus leaving all guessing at what the BOD is deeming "best" for Sun City. They haven't done this - they are not abiding by their promise of good communication. Hence, the fact that many are frustrated. What exactly does the BOD plan to put there? (What was shared at the planning meeting doesn't cut it). Do they expect it to be a multi-use facility (not just a theatre that's 2 or 3 stories tall with limited uses)? The BOD never answered that question in my emails. Quite frankly, we know nothing of the design. The BOD shouldn't decide on best placement unless they know exactly what will be constructed. So the BOD must know something. Communicating that might be a good idea . . . they may tell us design phase is next, however, they should have some idea of what the expectation of the construction is with the choice of the location. If they don't - WOW.
Somewhere on the many platforms you insert yourself into you made a comment you have written more that 10 million, 20, million 30 mullion words about Sun City. I will Look for that post. Do you think some were redundant? Do you honestly other than a few history buffs read that crap? You keep saying over and over I hate SC. FIND THAT QUOTE OR JUST SHUT UP ABOUT IT. What I can do is get my neighbors to sign a letter saying they stopped going to board meetings when you were anointed. They do not like you. The difference between you and me is I can prove my statements, you cannot. The things you said about me/to me here and on Chit Chat are immature low testosterone 12 year old boy crap who looks like a stumpy little old santa imitation.
Only if we continue to allow it . . . . this is why participation in the Board meetings is so important - and not just by a few. This is where we discover what is happening and have a voice. If the BOD ignores our voice - that's not acting in good faith . . . . slippery slope. I hope you can come to the meeting, Josie.
