Janet, I was just kidding about the blunt as my battalion of doctors would be appalled and for me that train left the station a long time ago.

Believe it or not once Mayor Daley, that would be Richard the First or just plain Da Mare ( it’s all in the pronunciation) died, things changed in Chicago for the better. Elections were clean, the aldermen for the most part were honest except mine who allowed lights in the hood and has totally destroyed it.
Oddly enough the problems Chicago had moved to the suburbs and surprisingly the most wealthy with election funny business and sweetheart deals. Go figure.

Things looked pretty "blue" in my son's Chicago suburb when I was there in early October.

A much better place to raise a family than Wicker Park, where they were before. They both have a commute. I wouldn't want to live in a big city during my working years. I liked being less than 10 minutes from my office. Still everything I need is within that time frame. The YMCA, public library, golf course, medical facilities, parks, walking/biking trail, restaurants, coffee shops, etc. Nice, relaxed lifestyle. Quiet, little hassle, but, of course, there is drama everywhere!

Wicker Park was cool in the mid70s to the late 80s and it became so gentrified it really lost its character, the same thing happened to Wrigleyville.
