I am a Facebook junkie with hundreds of "friends." Many of my friends are by association only. This morning I read a post that was "liked" by many thousands of people. The subject of the post was political, and the posts were ugly, many of them false, and showed how people don't care what they say in public. As a public speaker, I am aware that everything I say might come back to haunt me. I know I can't recapture words that leave my mouth. I also know as a writer that my integrity helps sell my books. So, why do people get on the bandwagon to like junk? Perhaps they don't realize that their "likes" will show up and all their friends can see what they are posting. Perhaps they don't care. Whichever, all I can do is "de-friend" them.

I think basically ( a lot of ) people like "nasty Junk" ---some just thrive on it -- and love to make matters worse - -they will reply with more negative words.
A man is what he speaks - - if negative or hateful words come out of his mouth -- I would guess he is just that type of a person .
I am so thankful I have the right to choose my friends - - I would have done similar "de-friend" them... on Facebook.
Why associate with the negative when you can associate with the positive ! ! !
People remember another person, often if not always, by what they say ! "Kind Words" always work best ! :tranquillity:

"What you are speaks so loudly, one cannot hear a word you say." Who said this?

A man is what a man does....
Remember - - "Actions Speak Louder than Words"

    :topsy_turvy:
and not certain who said those words...unless it was me all along !... AKA: my way of life.

It looks as Ralph Waldo Emerson is given credit for the quote.

The older we get, I believe we need to begin our day by feeding our mind with "good stuff." -- Avoid listening to news radio until after listening to the birds sing!

I can hear the birds chirping as I type ! ! - - and it is night time --
but nice "memories" of always the early morning doves, quail, and other birds just making their wonderful sounds & chirps.
Actually, they are a pleasant NATURAL "alarm clock"

I especially love the march of the quail in the mornings and afternoons. The baby quail make me laugh.

Those baby quail are just too awesome when first born and able to "walk"...They look like tiny little thimbles.
The Mommy & Daddy Quail are wonderful to watch -- they protect those babies.

    :love_heart:
-- Ma & Pa working together to guide their babies! A Quail family is most unique !

    Somedays I'm a hummingbird -- flittering around
Somedays I'm an eagle -- soaring
Somedays I'm a vulture -- preying on someone weaker
    Somedays I'm a mourning dove...
    ... a protective mother/father quail ... a graceful swan ... a silly goose.

Add your fine feathered friend personality to my list!

My day was made today when 40 or so quail marched through our front yard and then down the street only to turn around and march back. I think we have a bumper crop this year.

how lucky you were to have seen that. I always have my video camera ready, sitting on the table, to catch such things.

    More about birds:

"Soaring is what makes an eagle and eagle. She is so graceful as she moves in ever-widening circles. Yet, before she soars, she must do one thing: Stop flapping. The eagle can't flap and soar at the same time."

How are we like the eagle?

I am vacationing in Iowa and enjoying the fresh air after a shower last evening. It is amazing how fast I feel like an Iowa farm girl when coming "home". But when I get back to the desert I am at home.

Norman Vincent Peale, the author of "The Power of Positive Thinking" suggested three ways to break out of a dull routine that may cause stress: (1) Change your pace, (2) Seek the zest in life, and (3) Forget yourself. Now, how do we do this?

#1 - - find something new and different to do in your daily routine...maybe sub one activity for another or just add a little change in something -- might be as simple as a daily walk.

    #2 - - A SMILE - -might just add some "zest" - - because smiles are contagious !

    # 3 - - - Do something for others -- something as little as offering to get them a cup of coffee when you get yours or sitting next to someone who might be alone just for a little conversation.

AND -- that is my idea on your quote on how to break out of a dull routine that might cause stress.
    - -Now I will try to do this myself ! ! - - :untroubled:

A thought for today: We set ourselves up to do too much, our minds race with items on a mental "to do" list. We feel guilty if we don't accomplish everything or if we choose to rest awhile...slow down and find time to rest.

Are you over-programed in your retirement? Remember, retirement can be summed up in one word: choices!
