    It's been awful quiet?

What the heck is going on with the libraries?

Really? This can't be that hard.

Read last week closed for "maintenance". We all know what's going on. Board gets what board wants

And they were going to tell us this when?

Thought I read that it was Fairway and Youngtown closed for maintenance in last week's Independent. Maybe not, super busy week.

I just got this from the Library:
"It's a great day in Sun City! The library leases have been signed. More information will be shared at the RCSC Exchange meeting on Monday, September 9 at 1:00 p.m. at Sundial."

Wow!! Never ceases to amaze me. I posted yesterday the same thing and was shut down by Chris.

My post from Friends of the Sun City Libraries:
Just in!!! One question though. Weren't we told that the Bell Center Library already had a signed lease? Friends of the Sun City Libraries, Inc. · Good news! The Maricopa County Library District has an agreed-upon lease for the Bell and Fairway Branch Libraries! And, it has been signed by the RCSC! Great news! Feel free to spread the word!

    Chris reply:
Not announced on Save Our Sun City Libraries https://saveoursuncitylibraries.weebly.com/ OR Friends of the Sun Cities Libraries https://www.suncitylibraryfriends.org/ ‍ Not everyone chooses to belong to Facebook. If true, why haven’t the two Sun City groups, “Friends of & Save Our” celebrated by posting on their websites?

CARPTRASH, Waiting optimistically for official announcement. The Facebook post has no attribution to the information. The president of Friend’s of the Sun City Libraries is their spokesperson and always signs her name. Whomever posted, should have signed.

Here is my exact post on Nextdoor Sun. 9/08/24

“Not everyone chooses to belong to Facebook.

If true, why haven’t the two Sun City groups, “Friends of & Save Our” celebrated by posting on their websites?

Hopefully official “Good News” will be announced at tomorrow’s Exchange.“

    and my response:
Chris Friends of the Library was touted as the go to place by you and others for updates when the whole debacle started. Sue Blechl was the go to person. This was supposed to be done by 6/30. I can't answer why it's not on the website and don't know why you would think I would. According to posts about SC website maybe it was just simple to post to facebook and they will update the website tomorrow on a business day when they have more time. Or maybe someone erroneously posted to the FB site and if that is the case we should really start questioning the BOD as to why it's not done yet. The website contract appears to have been negotiated quickly, what is the issue with the library contracts?

So maybe there is a contract and maybe there isn't. The most perplexing thing to me is that there would be no questions if the board members were transparent. Do we have libraries or not? Is the T-Bird building still in play or not? Is the indoor dog park a sure thing or not? Nothing happening here makes sense. It's like members have to pull information from the board. Just my opinion from what I am seeing and not hearing.

    From another responder:
apparently the truth today can have many versions

    Regarding the Library:
    • The FB post was created and sent from Sue B. - the president of the Friends.
    • Marcia Davis liked the post on the Sun City Advocates page; she was very involved in the orchestrating of the Save our Libraries campaign.
    • There has been no "official" word from RCSC.
    • My guess is that "they" wanted to be the ones to announce the big news and will do so at the Exchange today at 1 pm.
    • Just a guess.
Either way, signed or not, if you attend the Exchange today as a concerned member, you will probably leave knowing the truth.

It would be so much easier, not to mention professional, if RCSC just updated people on a regular basis. Why does everything have to be cloaked in secrecy? We don't need to know costs while you are in negotiations, but we have a RIGHT as members to know what in the hell the RCSC BOD is doing.

I'm not on FAcebook or Nextdoor, I got my info from The Friends of the Sun City Libraries. We'll see shortly.

It probably hs already been announced at the Exchange today. I knew about it last week as a list of topics to be discussed was sent to me by an RCSC employee. It helps to develop professional relationships rather than be a mealy mouth whiner. Don’t you agree?

Agree. From my friend at Friends of the library

I shared the news on ND and was immediately corrected: "Not everyone chooses to belong to Facebook. If true, why haven’t the two Sun City groups, “Friends of & Save Our” celebrated by posting on their websites?"

Friends of the Sun City Libraries, Inc. And that's why I got called out. For some reason the person did not think FB was a good enough platform to make the post credible. It supposedly should have been on the website.

Today’s EXCHANGE, 9/09/2024 was very well attended.

    Up first, board announcement!

    LIBRARIES: ALMOST OFFICIAL

    • RCSC signed five year lease agreements for Sun City Fairway and Bell libraries last Friday, September 6, 2024.

    • Maricopa County has also signed.

    • Still need Maricopa County Library District’s signature. Expected to sign soon.
