There is not a person living in the US who has been a slave and who owned a slave. The reparation talk IMO in the first place was to win the black vote for Democrats. Reparations for what? Juneteenth honors the date, June 19, 1865, when the last Confederate community of enslaved Americans in Galveston, Texas, received word that they had been freed from bondage. Union General Gordon Granger led the unit in Galveston who would ensure the proclamation was enforced.

I have a wonder ancestorial chart of the Sicilian side of my family. If I look at it again and find my grandparents sailed her under horrid conditions am I entitled to reparations for their suffering?

Slavery was a horrid part of history. We learned from it...sort of. Why not concentrate on the 320,000 missing migrant children today, some who may be subjected to trafficking? All Harris wants are votes. Reparations, illegals able to vote, $25k for each illegal to purchase a home. $150k in CA.

The effects of slavery, actually in my opinion, of racism are still very much with us. For example, "In 2021, the typical White household had 9.2 times as much wealth as the typical Black household – $250,400 vs. $27,100. This ratio stood at 13.3 in 2019, prior to the onset of the pandemic. White households also had significantly more wealth than Hispanic households (5.1 times) and multiracial households (3.0 times) in 2021." I wonder what the average wealth of people in the US from Sicily is? Slavery is gone, racism is not. Of course people who claim to not see race or color will not be able to see racism either.

 

Exactly what does that have to do with slavery? Are you intimating that because there were slaves in the 1800's black and hispanic people are not smart enough to be successful? Or that something from 150 years ago is still impacting that portion of society? I think maybe if you listen to JFK and MLK they called for equality for everyone, not by giving money, by trying to make society better for all.

Makes me wonder what Al Jolsen, Sammy Davis Jr, Kanye West, Whitney Houston, Dr. Ben Carson, Justice Thomas and Brown Jackson and all the other black and hispanic wealthy people would say to you. My family was very middle class, we didn't have a lot, but we had what we needed. When we left home there was no paying for college. We paid for ourselves. In my 20's I worked a full time job, two part time jobs and went to school. BTW I am white.

Right now we have gangs burning cities, wide open borders, no one has to work hard to get in this country, just walk across the border, get a cell phone, pick up your govt. check and have a hell of a good life!

Which is not that informative, so I clicked on the link and there was a posting that seemed to be from Musk and it was about the Kennedys and somehow seemed to link their legacy to Trump. I was hoping that you could elaborate on that.
