FYI, first, I want to clarify Democrat from Democratic and its usage. Ever since Rush Limbaugh started calling everything Democrat, it has my teeth grinding and it showed what an ignoramus he was.

Thomas Jefferson was the founder of the Democratic Republican Party and was elected president as a member of this party. It was later shorten to the Democratic Party which elected Andrew Jackson under this party. This is the origin of the current Democratic Party. Notice I didn’t say Democrat party which is wrong and it is just Rush drivel trying to show how clever this college dropout Missouri racist he is. Now if I vote for Harris/Walz ticket I am voting Democratic. If I identify with Democratic Party I am a Democrat. See how simple it is.

Do I want open borders, probably no more than you want a person who says he wants to be a dictator for a day, the invoke the Insurrection Act and then suspends habeus corpus.

But I digress, immigration policy has been a problem in this country since 1650 when a new wave of Europeans immigrated based on religious freedom. To say things got testy is an understatement as the Pilgrims saw the newcomers cutting in the trade deals they had with the Natives. Things eventually worked out and the most important feature of the new immigration was a rise in the birth rate which had been dropping due to the lovely New England winters and disease.
Unlimited immigration continued in our history and the racism attached to it until the first immigration law was passed, The National Origins Act of 1890. It stated that a certain percentage of people from that particular country would be legally admitted based on the number of the same immigrants from that country in 1890. The first act that kicked people out was the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1888. Sorry about that critical race thing but it fit and it’s true. If you look at the big picture from 10,000 feet you will see that from a legislative standpoint the US tries to tackle this problem about once a generation with varying degrees of success., i.e., 1920, 1950s, 1966, 1986, etc.

Tom wants to know if I am somehow pleased that the Democrats want to turn the US into a Socialist/Marist country. That might be difficult since they are two different ideologies such as conservative and reactionary. That said I will go along with the game. If Tom is against Socialism is he prepared to give up his Social Security and Medicare as I don’t want him tainted by Socialism. Snark aside, what is wrong with helping our own citizens? Trump and his sidekick are advocating for child tax credit, assistance with childcare, etc. or if it comes from a Republican it isn’t Socialism?

Price controls are something that may be popular on the campaign trail but have not played well in reality. My first encounter in my studies was during the Depression under I believe the National Recovery Act which established prices for goods and services but was ruled unconstitutional in what was known as the “sick chicken” case and I’m not kidding. The next I am familiar with involved rationing and essentially price fixing during WWII which would be considering the circumstances. I believe there were other attempts post WWII because of demobilization and some after the Korean Conflict. The most recent one I know of was in 1972 when Nixon took the us completely of gold standard and then implemented a wage price freeze. Not polar and was ended.

You now bring up unrealized income being taxed. While I understand this somewhat, I am not a in the weeds tax person so no real opinion. One thing I do know on this from what I have read is the second point you bring up is essentially probate. Without getting into the weeds too much, the instance you present is the children inheriting the family farm. First there would be no unrealized taxes due as that ended when deceased passed. We now come to the value of the farm and implements. Since the inheritors are children of the deceased they are each entitled to an exemption on their inheritance before any taxes are due of a few hundred million dollars (I would check the Federal Probate Statutes as to the correct amount but it is substantial ). The exemption for State taxes is the same as the Feds so there would be relatively no taxes due. I admit it has been awhile since I dealt with probate but the outline here is accurate.

The $25,000 grant for first time home buyers I knew would come up. Since the projected cost is about 1.7B per year, could be funded by the expiration of The No Fat Cat Left Behind Trump tax cuts for the ultraweathly in 2017. Why not help expand the middle class with home ownership as how many chateaus in France does Mark Zuckerberg really need. If the middle class does well the country does well. Post WWII expansion proved that.

Those home mortgage loans that went bust were underwritten by banks sold to Fannie and Freddie, bundled, given top credit ratings by S&P , Moodys, etc. without ever knowing those bundles were crap until some short sellers actually looked into the default rates and then shit hit the fan.

I am no Sunshine Patriot or Summer Soldier. I believe the saying my country right or wrong, but if wrong right it. I have worked on political campaigns since 1960 when my Social Studies gave us an assignment to work on a campaign for a week and then write a paper on it. I worked on that campaign for the entire campaign and never looked back. Totally unrelated of sorts, since conventions have wrapped up with speeches ad naseum, I would like to recommend a speech I saw during the 1964 Democratic convention (I had no political leaning then and my parents were Eisenhower Republicans). A little known Senator from your home state Tom, NJ p, named John Pastore delivered a speech in the afternoon which was pro Johnson. That’s not the real reason I bring it up, it was an old style stump speech but also teaching class in public speaking. If you can find it somewhere, watch and how he had the crowd eating out of his hands. Useless trivia, it was the first convention that that a major sponsor was Xerox with their new dangled copier.

I have spent my life trying to keep third rate hustlers away from positions of responsibility. My current involves Abe Hamadeh, Kari Lake (she’s a needy idiot) and Trump who is totally incompetent and his faithful white companion JD (women are baby machines)Vance.

    Have a positive day tovarich.

You, FYI and Newsmax are the low information trio from la la land.

Tom, any thoughts on my response other than what about Kamala? Few things of note today, apparently the trumpeter is laying the groundwork for stolen election already with the “we have all the votes we need” trope, starting the chicken run on backing out of the debate (no surprise there) and most importantly concerns the “black hole” of money from 2020 and 2022 that defies governance, i.,e., where is the money going. Apparently it disappears into accounts controlled by the trump family and “ associates.” Good luck trying to figure out where this grifter is funneling your contribution. Sucker money donations.

The only car keying I know about in Sun City was my dad's car that was keyed while parked by the Royal Cafe two days after putting a Kerry-Edwards sticker on it.

Yeah, why didn't you lecture me on the fact that we are not a Democracy but a Democratic Republic?
So, I guess I was wrong again in that you don't qualify as a Summer Soldier or Sunshine Patriot. You are simply a die-hard Democrat, even though this not the same Democrat Party your parents voted for, who suffers from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome and would rather see his country turn into Venezuela rather than remaining a Representative Republic.
Well, if that's the case how come you keep voting for Democrats who have hustled the Black community for years for their votes with empty promises? The Dem's are responsible for the KKK, Jim Crow laws, Black voter suppression, while trying to take credit for the Civil Rights Act of 1964 that passed because the majority of votes was by the Republicans! The Dem's continually try to divide the Country by Race, Religion, education, sex, political party, rich or poor and sexual preference while at the same time telling us we are not Red American's or Blue American's but we are all simply American's! The Dem's are better hustlers than Minnesota Fats!

Bottom line! I guess you will still vote for a Democrat Party even if it does kill the American way of life!

Happy Food stamps and ration lines Comrade!

Well, I don't believe you can get to Marxism without first going thru Socialism? They are the two sides of the same coin, that coin being against Capitalism!
If me and my employer hadn't paid into it throughout my entire career I would be happy too! It's people like you who believe Social Security is an entitlement and we should give it to every Tom, Dick, Harry and illegal alien that crosses the border and who have not contributed one red cent into the program!
Yeah, but doesn't inheriting the farm/estate increase the value of that families assets? And wouldn't that be considered an unrealized capitol gain? Gee, wasn't Bill Clinton the one who introduced a retroactive tax on the rich and the dead?
Yeah, and wasn't that another brilliant Democrat plan initiated by your buddy Barnie Frank?

How do you explain their slogan "Strength Though Joy"?

Set up in November 1933 as a tool to promote the advantages of Nazism to the German people and internationally, it was also used to ease the process of the rearmament of Germany. Through its structure of organized events and promotion of propaganda, it was also intended to prevent dissident and anti-state behavior.

Joy to the world baby, the dems are on fire. Kills you doesn't it as you play ping pong between yourselves. Howling to no one is classic maga/trumpism.

But alas, this commentary regarding Dave's remarks was far too good to ignore. I have to admit you should both be experts on rambling.

Duh!!! Here's the score for those paying attention:
RNC trump acceptance speech 92 long and freaking boring minutes (where countless walked out and millions turned off their TV's and those at home turned if off). Where was Hannibal Lecter when he needed him? Thank God worm brain came aboard.
DNC Harris acceptance speech was 32 minutes of riveting, tight and on point comments (where no one left or tuned out).

But wait for it gang...because it just gets better.

    Black job Indeed.

Sorry Janet but January 6, 2021, where trump led 1000's to attack and shit on the Capital is the one that sticks in my memory. You know, the one where they wanted to lynch Mike Pence.

By the way, here is General McMaster's remarks regarding trump's role in Afghanistan. You know, one of "his general's."

Retired Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, who served as national security adviser under former President Donald Trump, said Monday his onetime boss bears some responsibility for the US’ chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021.

McMaster told CNN’s Anderson Cooper that the former president had made a decision in 2017 to maintain a US presence in Afghanistan, but that Trump then changed his mind. The Trump administration ultimately entered into an agreement with the Taliban requiring US troops to withdraw from the country by May 2021. President Joe Biden, after he took office, pushed that withdrawal date back to August.

Dems can't win unless they cheat. New letter from Zuckerberg. https://x.com/JudiciaryGOP/status/1828201780544504064

Heels up Harris wants to change agreed to debate rules or she won't play. Poor thing looks and talks like she's drunk most of the time. She wants to bring "notes" and she wants to be able to sit down. If it wasn't for Willie she would still be in the city of the poop maps.

Once a BSer always one. That was debunked a long time ago. You know, like the fine people on both sides? I thought you said you were done? Oh wait! That was 10 or 15 times ago. I'd welcome you back but that would be disingenuous.

Really? Wow! I guess when you can't defend your party's policies the only thing you can criticize is the attendance at their rallies!
But I'm sure you're not referring to the Kamala rallies where they needed to hold a music concert before she got up and spoke or start the rumors that Beyonce' was going to be at the DNC so people would stay tuned-in?

Come on Bill, I thought you were better than that? How dare you compare January 6th to what happened during Biden's pullout from Afghanistan? And how the hell is Trump the blame? Really? He wasn't the one that ordered the military out before the civilians or our allies, or who left billions of dollars worth of the latest military equipment to our enemy that will now be used against us! Thirteen American service men and woman were killed, hundreds of others injured and maimed because adding insult to injury, our President wouldn't allow our sniper to take out the terrorist wearing the bomb who they had identified and knew he was there!

January 6th was for sure an embarrassment but it wasn't an insurrection as the Left keeps spewing! If it was I'm sure Trump would have been convicted of insurrection. It was about the certification process that seems only to be okay when the Democrat's do it when a Republican wins. They did it in 2001, 2005, and 2017, and Congressman Jamie Raskin has already promised that if Trump wins in 2024 that he will attempt to prevent his certification based on that phoney insurrection charge.

If you do nothing else today, at least say a prayer on the 3 year anniversary of the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan where lives were lost and left behind. Or perhaps ask yourself why Joe or Kamala wasn't in Arlington today, or why they have never reached-out to the families.

Come on Bill, there was nothing in that agreement that called for the military to be pulled-out before the American's, the civilians, our allied interpreters or before removing or destroying the military equipment!
