I called Safeway store myself right after the west valley story came out.
Safeway told me that that was not true. They are not closing or shutting down.
It was explained to me that it was some kind of large grocery merger. That is all.
I blame the newspaper for that misleading report.
The store management told me they are NOT closing.

    Hello,
I called the Safeway store immediately and talked to the management.
The management told me they are NOT closing that grocery market.
They explained to me that it was some kind of larger extended merger of some kind.
They clearly told me they have no plans of changing anything.
I just want to let everyone know.
I was deeply concerned and called right away after that misleading news story.

If they would close, and no one knows until they do or don't, but if they were to close I'm sure store managers would have to sign an NDA. When Banner bought Sun Health I had to sign one because I worked for the CEO. We could not use the word 'acquisition', had to say merger.

The reason for that was to avoid a mass employee exit. A new owner is cause for much concern. It was 12 months or so before the purchase was formally announced.

Again, I don't feel that they were lying to me. I was told that the company is intact.

I just wrote the Independent newsroom asking for clarification on there story. The paper did infer that this store would be going away. I too reacted to it, and called the Safeway. Now, you have me wondering, are they or aren't they. I sent a message to the newspaper. Grocery markets are critical to folks. I do think we need some clarity with this now. Thanks.

I don't think anyone knows whether the stores will go away or not until they do or don't. Mergers are cut-throat. The Banner/Sun health acquisition took over a year. The US govt got involved because Banner did not want Del Webb hospital, however the ruling was all or nothing. The US govt and AZ govt are involved in the Kroger deal. It could be Safeway will become a Piggly Wiggly. I don't know. I don't shop at Safeway, too expensive and their meat is terrible. If I am going to pay that much for a steak I'll pay a little more and go the butcher shop. All I do know is that when my neighbor told me our economy is booming I laughed. Look at Bed Bath and Beyond. Here's more info.

Big lots is on the CBS list but not Red Lobster. Kamala is going to (according to chyron on bottom of PC screen) raise corp taxes to 35%, higher than Venezuela. SS Director just resigned too.

I'm sure that will make many. Manufacturer's happy!

Trump wants to drop them and he wants to lower personal taxes as well. Every time taxes are lowered the Fed's find themselves getting more money.

People are willing to pay a fair amount of taxes, but when they're too high they feel the need to cheat.

Yep. I find it very interesting that the people don't get to pick who they want for their candidate. Biden steps aside, Harris anointed. If that was my party I would be pissed. Democracy? Not sure, but when she was in the presidential running didn't she have around a 3% approval rating?

Everyone should be concerned about the lack of money that the country and companies no longer have.
We all should be focused on making a healthy country and economy again.
    We cannot sustain this.
Are you happy with what you are seeing??
Just remember how nice the 1980's was, and think about how the place looks today!
Everyone needs to be a community, home and country activist.
I am not going to sit here and watch my country fade away. Pray, and ask God for guidance.
    Have a great day!

We all need and should be concerned about the downgrading of our country. Many folks don't have enough money to do home upgrades, take a yearly vacation.
Is this the nice America you think we deserve? Thrift shops are closing up around here because the owners are telling me they can no longer pay the high ridiculous rents the shopping landlords are charging. Do you think this is the kind of place you envisioned for your retirement years? Everyone needs to start saying things and getting involved in small ways. We should not sit back and allow all of this to be our new lifestyle standard. Please, please write to your local representatives. Have a good day, folks!

All I can say is people get what they vote for. I was able to afford to go out, grocery shop etc 4 years ago. Just put $40 in my 20 year old car for 1/2 tank. It's a Kia Sportage. Over the past 3 years I had to deplete my Roth IRA. Keep voting democrat folks. Have you seen the new caravan coming towards the border? Who do you think is paying for their healthcare, housing etc? The exterior of my home is in bad shape. I don't care. I can't care. It won't do any good. There is no money tree in my back yard.

In addition Eileen if you consider the people who this administration is bailing out of their student loans it's generally the Liberal Arts majors. Those areas are difficult at best to find good paying jobs, where lawyers, doctors, MBA's and especially trade workers are in constant demand, especially electricians and plumbers. Sure, you can find a handyman but for security I would want a ROC licensed contractor.

It involved a prison break, the killing of the Baskerville was to clear the way for the second and the help taking over the property. I’ll try A Study in Scarlet next time.
