You could be correct. The only AM station I could listen to in college was from St. Louis and to say it sucked was praising it. The college station really wasn’t into the music thing unless it was 4AM.

I suspect that SCAZ is not the station for me, it seems to be aiming for a very narrow audience with a very narrow range of music. No college 4 a.m. stuff there.

Actually I would like to be a DJ as I own over 300 albums from that time period. I can play the platters that matter, put wattage in your cottage and do twin spins. When was the last time you heard In the Court of the Crimson King?

On the contrary! I found the station to play everything from hard rock to country, which I'm not particularly fond of.

I believe they are still searching to find their audience. You can contact them and make requests, I did.

I think as more listeners make their requests the station will find its footing.

What I just find a little disheartening is that the new GM rejected the offer from Mike and Karla, who was willing to provide it for free! And now the RCSC wants to create their own station so that they have total control!

When they currently don't seem to have enough technology to provide live security cameras at our rec centers, or the support staff to video record committee meetings, or manage to put out a Sun City In Focus in a consistent timeline, can we really expect the RCSC to establish their own radio station anytime soon?

Maybe the RCSC should have taken Mike and Karla up on their FREE offer to see how successful it would be before going out and purchasing new equipment and hiring more staff? Then, if successful, perhaps something could be worked out for the mutual benefit to both? But no! Lets just throw more money at something we have no idea about its success!

And I would have thought that you would have heard something about this or a vote taken at a board meeting?

I wonder if this is in the new 5 year budget?

I have not tried making a request yet, but I have sent them 2 emails and so far, no reply. As far as the range of music they play, well I think it is a matter of definition.

IFunny, I've been considering getting the CD version of "In the Court of the Crimson King" for a while. I think I might have the record somewhere, but am pretty much turntableless these days. I too have a bunch of music from the 50s to the 90s, but the station is not doing DJs or shows, at least not yet.

Nothing surprises me about this place anymore. Can't/won't do an email blast regarding the ASU survey follow up because (see below from Advocates blog). Why do any email blasts then? Does it cost that much money to do one? Board application packets can't be done electronically. So now not only are we residents "obtuse" we are lazy and irresponsible! Let's just gather 'round, set our assessment fee money on fire and make smores.

Information is available in multiple formats. It’s a responsible member’s decision if, when and how they choose to access. What criteria do you think qualifies for e-blasts? Only 5,000 members are signed up for e-blasts.

Rich is a good radio guy, done it most of his life, and I'm sure he could add live commentary at times to the live stream? I just wonder if he would stay with Karla and Mike if he's made an offer by the RCSC?

Just my opinion but, I would suspect that SCAZRadio fits more into his current retired lifestyle where he can make his own hours?

Good Luck to SCAZRadio! I'm pulling for them to stay independent. That way we don't get filtered news!

Yes, I saw that, I thought, from the newspaper article and from the site, that they were looking for volunteers, but I guess i was wrong. If RCSC starts a radio station I hope that it's not done by devouring SCAZ, which I wish the best of luck.

Even if RCSC creates their own radio broadcast, GM INSISTS NO volunteers!!

    RCSC Technology Committee Summary 05/08/24

“SUN CITY RADIO: What do we want to do? Doing it online is simple. Starting from scratch. Then the staff can run it. Music and all approved announcements in Sun city properties would then come from our station onto all our properties. We discussed if it would be online and live broadcast.
We could develop an RCSC app to run this. This would require more IT employees who are expensive. General Manager D’Luzansky wanted RCSC to own this and not depend on volunteers.”

More staff and less volunteers. Is this really the way we want SC to go? Not me. Guess I'll have to start my own radio station, called "Carptrash's CD Player." Hey, I already have it!
    PS. Thanks for the link.

Radio stations are out of style, people want to control there own listening tastes now. I hope RCSC knows better not to go down this road.

I, incorrectly I guess, took this to mean that they might be looking for volunteers, but that was projection on my part.

I believe that if folks are offered a mix of songs they know and love and interesting ones that they might never have heard before, that they might listen to it.

CT, although CDs don’t have the sound quality of vinyl, the Crimson King album has Peter Fripp, Greg Lake who went on to Emerson, Lake & Palmer, MacDonald & Giles who did an album with great songwriting and production.

I doubt that we will hear that on SCAZRadio. Also, Did you catch that the last MC5 member, drummer Dennis Thompson, died about a month ago?

Yes I did. Too bad, I pull out the album every once in a while for a listen and think of the good old days.
