This is also an excellent time to personally get to know some of the most recently elected and appointed Board members. There is experience among them that is valuable. It's also up to us to be more informed about what they think, how their previous life or professional experience is transferable to assist RCSC - they volunteered to do this "job" because they felt they could make a difference. I know the trust is severely damaged; however, I do know some Directors that are in agreement that big changes are necessary and I expect this week has been the event that is turning up the heat to take action. Turning the Titanic is slow and society is impatient, but the Members were definitely heard today. And that was good.

I hope there is also a realization on the Board that they represent the members, so the Board needs to reach out and get informed on what went horribly wrong. The skill that is lacking in all our leadership is humility.

Agree. This debacle will take a great deal of effort to repair. Yesterday was also a masterclass in what happens when due diligence is not performed. The Board has witnessed the need for change. At this moment, the ball is in their court and the existing committees need to do their jobs.

Drop this right at the feet of the cause, the GM. He should be toast after this shitstorm of his own making.

Sure,...lets just instantly fire everybody and anybody who makes a mistake? I guess Mr. Weiland never made a mistake during his career?

An apology was made, the situation will be addressed and I'm sure everybody has learned a very important lesson!

Yesterday, the right thing to do was apologize.

I heard Karen say, "We know how important this topic is....I'd like to take a few moments to frame this issue at least from MY perspective." Later she began inserting the word "we." I will assume that what she read was agreed upon by the whole Board.

    That's good on them.

However, when the GM had the opportunity to speak, I did not hear an apology.

Waiting to see what happens after the Information meeting on Wednesday.

There's plenty of blame to go around in this debacle. A huge mistake was made. Let's see where we go. I can point to many areas of failed oversight and I could point fingers at past board members (and committees) that failed their due diligence tests and oversight responsibilities. But, some of us (Dave) know that steps have been taken over the last year to disect some of these problems and begin to take corrective action. So, let's hold on a bit, take a breath and not add more fuel to this inferno. Nobody is taking this matter lightly.

Linda, I certainly agree with your assessment that this was a huge mistake. The follow up has been disastrous. In my view calls from those in power (like yourself) for calm only create more angst. Actions have to speak louder than words. Tell the members the truth.
