I read an article in The Independent about Sun City Foundation donating a $10,000.00 grant that will "fund a third party to conduct interviews and edit 15- to 20- minute videos of each resident to be presented in the video rotation of the Sundome Jr. Theater." I have called and emailed the Foundation several times to answer a couple of questions regarding help with my annual assessment. I have not heard from them. I believe the Foundation was set up to help low income residents. After reading that article I will be contacting AZ Family On Your Side today, which I believe was formerly 3 On Your Side.
Sun City Independent story was posted online with misinformation. Paper was advised, but too late to change for print edition. The article has been corrected online: “Through a $10,000 grant from the Del Webb Foundation, the museum will offer a video perspective from five residents who were here early in the city’s founding and remain today. The grant will fund a third-party to conduct interviews and edit 15-20 minute videos of each resident to be presented in the video rotation of the museum’s Sundome Jr. Theater.” https://www.yourvalley.net/stories/sun-city-museum-shares-voices-from-past,479653
So there are 3 foundations here. SC, RCSC and Del Webb. Great job with communication. Still does not address why no one returns my calls or emails, although I do have some insight.
Sun City Foundation https://www.suncityfoundation.org/ Del Webb Foundation https://www.dewf.org/HomePage.html Recreation Centers of Sun City, Inc. (RCSC) is not a foundation. https://suncityaz.org/
HH....RCSC is NOT a Foundation. SCF can only support programs and services of RCSC. Why don't you attend a Foundation Board meeting? Maybe they can answer your question. Or email the co-chairs directly if you haven't already done that.
I have contacted board members. It should not have to be this hard. I worked for Sun Health Foundation for 17 years. I sent APS and Cox my W2 and was approved in days. As usual SC boards are just plain crap. No wonder we are 20 mil in the hole.
Sun City Foundation - GuideStar Profile GuideStar https://www.guidestar.org › profile Mission. TO OPERATE FOR THE EXCLUSIVE BENEFIT OF THE RECREATION CENTERS OF SUN CITY INC. Ruling year info. 1987. Main address. 10626 W Thunderbird Blvd. SCHOA Foundation Sun City Homeowners Association https://suncityhoa.org › about › foundation The SCHOA Foundation preserves property values by recognizing and funding projects that contribute to maintaining Sun City at its best. RCSC is not a foundation, however there a SC foundation specifically for benefit of RCSC members who are having financial issues regarding annual assessment. One time only gift. Then there is the HOA foundation which helps with yard maintenance etc. I did not know about the Del Webb Foundation. By the way using caps does not make your print louder. My point is/was I have called and emailed with no return call/email. SC is shameful. Word must be getting out. Home sales down 10% from a year ago. Home prices down 6% from a year ago. Number of homes for sale up 10% from a year ago. All this and 20 mil in debt. Who will pay for that? How high can assessment fees go? And they still will not go back to per person assessment. Lovely.
Maybe it would have been helpful to do some checking before you immediately jumped to the idea of contacting the media to cry foul. At least others decided to fact check because it seemed unusual that the SCF would make such a grant, and then a request for a correction was made to The Independent. Caps was for emphasis - I could have used quotations.
[QUOTE=" All this and 20 mil in debt. Who will pay for that? How high can assessment fees go? And they still will not go back to per person assessment. Lovely.[/QUOTE] For one thing they are not 20 million in debt. Assessment fees should go as high as necessary. I am also in favor of per person. $575 per person would be about right.
OPINION Sun City Independent Posted Monday, February 19, 2024 “Fimmel: A look back going forward By Kat Fimmel (Excerpt) This past year has proved quite challenging. It began by including members in helping develop the annual budget. Members participated in meetings about the corporation’s finances, asked questions, and made suggestions. We were shocked to learn the corporation had $20 million in deferred maintenance. We created a Capital Improvement Fund (CIF) to address this issue.” Posted Monday, February 19, 2024 Sun City Independent online: https://www.yourvalley.net/stories/fimmel-a-look-back-going-forward,479187
How would the average reader know it was an error? The only person here that knew was EO who posts info often times prior to email blasts. So I read something about SC and am supposed to call and verify every time? That is insane. You are saying we should not trust what we read about SC. Also, I misspoke, not 20 mil in debt, 20 mil in deferred maintenance. RCSC still screwed up and we, the residents, are still going to have to pay for it. Calling On Your Side is more about the difficulty I am having getting an answer from SCF. 2 months and crickets. No, I don't like SC any more and hindsight is 20/20. Why would I want to live in a place where "nobody gives a shit about you" all caps per a prominent member. In my search for another home sometimes request for reviews pop up from retirement communities on websites and you tube. If SC is included I always leave a review, and I assure you I am not alone in my opinion. There is a person on Nextdoor who posts info/happenings etc about SC and God forbid someone challenges, asks a question the post gets taken down and reposted without the feedback and commenting is turned off. It's like a little dictatorship! don't like what someone has to say.....silence them!
