You can certainly propose it at the upcoming annual membership meeting in March in the proper manner, however, it would be interesting to see if the chair declared it an "affair of the corporation" to be sent back to the board for study? I suppose if the chair does declare it as an "affair of the corporation" you could always "appeal that decision of the chair" which would then require a vote from the membership. Depending what happens from there is anybody's guess but it could get ugly!...but then again, do the Members really prevail?
That is not what I said. "Not everyone has the inclination/physical capability" Not all WANT to be on the board. They might be busy having fun. COPD would be an example of capability. Or being confined to a wheelchair. Not excuses. I would bet those folks might just disagree with you regarding limitations being an excuse. Age is a factor as well. Maybe a poll?
Thanks FYI for this! Would you happen to know the largest amount of PIF dollars spent on one project during last 20 years? $27 million or so on MV project is mucho money for 9 people to control. Though I was ecstatic to read that the Board changed the MV “elements” after receiving info at special session last Thursday.
Expert-Verified Answer. The Statement which best explains the ideal of self-governance is Members should Control an organization. Who has the authority needs to be made clear to members. Everyone seems mighty confused.
While Brainly's answer may be the one you gravitate to Sambo, my preference is and always has been to take the historical application from the day we opened in 1960 and evolved along with the membership who bought here and actually wrote the documents to fit their own expectations of self-governance. I would argue most of them understood what they were attempting to do and why they were doing it. I would further be happy to argue/discuss whether it worked or not...and more specifically why the effort to run from it was such a bad idea (2009-2022).
Not here to argue. I do believe that in the course of the community change the definition of self governance has become skewed from the intention because of the most common definitions. Members are now expecting to have the final say and some are in an uproar because that isn't happening.
