Why? Isn’t he entitled to share his opinion?

This has long been a topic of much discussion. It's also one i had to walk a fine line on as a board member. There's truly a distinction between "speaking for the board" and speaking as a resident/RCSC member. Lot's of folks wants to lump them into one basket, i'm not one of them. I was often outspoken while serving on the RCSC board and tried to make it clear that when i was, i was speaking as a member/owner and clearly not speaking on behalf of the board or the RCSC.

That said, more on point to John's comments, i struggle with the multiple golfers running for the board. Not because they are golfers, but because they have no idea what they are getting into and the time commitment they will be making. I know at least one of them (he told me), is playing 5 days a week. I asked how he would manage that and his comment was the RCSC should just move meetings to late afternoon or evening. Not going to happen on a regular basis.

All of which further stresses John's point; the commitment made by this year's board has been extraordinary. Normally shut down for the summer, this year they have been up and running through all of it. Board members have been asked to do so much more than in year's past. It's crazy, because most members running for the board aren't looking for a nearly full time job.

In the month of November alone, there are 7 member meetings (4 Town Halls, 1 exchange, 1 board meeting and 1 membership meeting). That's on top of committee meetings they are assigned to and liaison's with organizations. Then if they have any work sessions at all, imagine what you calendar looks like. Then try and fit in your 5 golf outings each week. Damn.

The real tragedy is we had a structure to buffer that overload using the massive talent pool available in Sun City. Sadly the gm found that process to be counter-productive and it was dismantled and we told people moving here to just have fun. How'd that work out for us?

Today's SAC meeting was "interesting." It proved one thing to me, we have a lot of talented members who clearly are valuable in helping determine our future. BUT, we also need both the board and management, who have expertise and are willing to engage openly and are able to inject some common sense into the discourse.
