No, Royal Oaks pays something to the RCSC for each unit, but the individual resident would have to pay the other half to get a privilege card. They cannot be RCSC members because they aren't owners of the property but buy into the Royal Oaks community. I doubt many of the residents do buy, because Royal Oak is pretty self-contained.

I think I once heard they were given a choice. Not sure though.

Thanks Bill! How about condo owners at facility on 103rd and Thunderbird? Name of facility is El Dorado.

Prior to building more pickleball courts, I think it would be wise to do a comprehensive study of how other places, including 55+ communities, handle the demand for play. Personally I don't think it would be a good idea for RCSC to start charging a fee to play on our courts. That would be a slippery slope to go down since I don't believe we charge Members for time on the tennis courts, minigolf, table tennis, billiards, etc. However there may be some merit to reserving court time so that play is spread throughout the day rather than concentrated in several hours.

While I am on the topic of pickleball courts, I recently read or heard that the Pickleball Club has first dibs on the courts and reserves the prime times. I don't know if that is true, but it would seem to be the same issue as the small golf groups getting preferred tee times and the walk on players get the leftover times. Does anyone know if that is the case?

One thing I know is that when the pb club holds events like round robins, ladders, etc., they must leave a couple courts open for non-club members to use. I believe most other times courts are open to anyone. And I know there are advantages to join the club for court time, in particular to play in the events.

El Dorado is different, when my mom owned a unit there she had to pay the RCSC for her card. All of those apts are owned and the residents are full voting members. I don't remember if it was optional because my mom wanted to be a member.

You're right about the existing $31M; $27M is currently projected for MTNV, not sure about how many millions for turf reduction at this point. Lakeview is currently an unknown. LRPC and B&F will be meeting soon, and a discussion also needs to take place soon regarding the findings of the ASU survey to determine how those results fit in to our future.

There's no shortage of work to do. The survey provided a lot of information and it's important that work proceeds before it becomes irrelevant.
