So well said Emily. Sadly, doing the right thing is in the eyes of the beholder.

Okay, I'm going to say it out loud...what I resent are the Snowbirds who just come here because it's affordable and to get away from the drudgery of their Winter months to have fun in the sun, but takes absolutely no interest in the community affairs! They don't attend board or exchange meetings, or could even name one person on the board, and some don't even know we have a lake!

Those are the people that we need to get engaged because those are the people who do a disservice to Sun City. Stop treating Sun City as your personal recreational resort where you simply come and go as you please and let somebody else worry about the logistics! Clean-up on isle 5!

    Just my opinion!

    FYI,

While many of our Snowbirds are not engaged with the RCSC year-round functions of board, management, staff and operations, there are more full time owner Members who aren’t either!

Our “birds” pay their full annual assessment, pay for the special extra charge events hosted by RCSC. Participate in many clubs and activities. They infuse much into our local economy.

They are happy to be here contributing to our sense of community. Year-rounders often host “good-bye for now” and “welcome back” gatherings for their bird friends!

I’m happy they chose Sun City of all the places they could have chosen to escape to!

They come here because it's the best game in town!

Of course I'm not throwing all Snowbirds into one category and of course we have full-timers who are equally at fault. It's just that too many Members haven't got a modicum of interest in what it means to act as a community!

Remember what Hillary said, "It takes a village." (my god, I don't believe I agree with Hillary!

The more I read and hear, the more I like some of my ideas for MV, which I presented to the SAC a couple months ago. Build/remodel a PAC at MV. Build an indoor, climate controlled structure around existing pb and tennis courts at MV.(converting tennis to pb courts) If more space is needed for pb courts and/or parking, remove the lawn bowling court to obtain the space. A lawn bowl court could be added elsewhere if need be. I personally do not believe 7 lawn bowl courts are needed in Sun City. Lawn Bowling seems to be only group not being asked to give up anything. As for pickleball, I thought they originally only did not want to lose courts at MV. Now they want many more courts. I also believe noise issues from pb will cause consternation from neighbors and pool users at MV.

With all this said, we all need to relax a bit and wait for the architect to present the numbers she is working on. 10/20/23 is when these numbers hopefully are complete. At that time, more discussion and reflection will hopefully occur.

Here's the ugly piece of the proposal now posted on the SAC website. Pulling the PAC and replacing it with an indoor pickleball venue means the Players have no home.

Bill -the answer to this is to build the PAC at Lakeview first. Then Mountainview, then rest of Lakeview. Fix up Mountainview as needed in meantime until they have funds for remodel. Golf course water issues fitted in as necessary.

The problem is doing a piecemeal job at Lakeview would be a nightmare. The center is aging badly and the reality is as many folks have said Lakeview should become the flagship property given its amazing lake setting. I know Russ put forward a proposal with it going in the far corner on Thunderbird and Del Webb but ultimately it would do nothing for utilizing the potential spacing that will become available over the next 8-10 years. I also know folks are talking about trying to save portions of the old round, but that seems wholly illogical to me.

I too think, as Tom T does above, there may be enough space to do the PAC in the old building at MV, add indoor pb courts there, a medium size fitness center, spruce up the pool with an outdoor spa and redo the mini-golf. It won't be cheap, and a lot will depend on Marlene's numbers for redoing the existing auditorium. If they could do all that for the 27 million dollars, then i think members would buy-in. If the lawn bowling green at MV were to go away, they would need to do something at Fairway. That artificial carpet was supposed to be replaced in 2020. Many of the bowlers aren't crazy about the carpet and oddly it would be cheaper to put a grass green in; the downside is the artificial is more expensive maintenance wise.

I too wish they had all waited to see Marlene's number's on the 20th before going off script. I know the real fear was the rumors about taking money from MV and trying to do it on the cheap. That would be crazy.

So in reality, nothing has changed other than the faces. Whoever talks the loudest and the longest gets to go to the head of the line?

What does that mean Larry? Nothing has been decided and no one has a clue what will be decided. At least, i don't.

Hopefully a true representation of our community attends the Town Halls.
    Our board openly listens.
    Membership is heard.
We deserve and are entitled to prevail.

I think the idea of locating the PAC at Bell Center should go back on the table. The cormner of 99th and Hutton is for the most part unused. Changing the boundries of the Farmers Market would not be a problem. There is ample parking and access is easy. We could get a clean estimate of cost withour all the other addons ( P.B. - Volley Ball - Pools - etc.)

Always great to have options. The architect did say a brand new PAC would cost much more than a remodel, no matter where built. Thus she is, I believe only doing numbers for a remodel at MV. Though of course nothing is final yet.

I have also mentioned the idea of the SAC recommending more than one alternative to the board and community. Why not? Then let community give their opinions on the alternatives with board making final decision. This would take most of the pressure off the SAC.

Again though, let’s wait till we hear the numbers from the architect, whom I believe will help lead us to a great decision. Fingers crossed!

In my research FYI, the answer is yes they do generate revenue, though not much. You are correct that the Players do the tickets and keep ticket sale money. Would be great if RCSC were given a percentage of receipts from ticket sales, though not sure the amount is worth talking about. Thanks for keeping me honest!
