    Just received this email today:
    "As of 9/10/2023,
We have formally changed our name from Palmbrook Country Club to Palmbrook Golf Club. We have changed our logo in recognition to the uniqueness of the Lovebirds that are o Palmbrook's property. Thank you, Management"
Wish I could post the logo, but of course TOSC doesn't seem to support inserting images anymore. I did post it on Nextdoor....

Interesting given the 5th water management plan coming in 2025 will cause quite the expensive storm.

I see they have a 4% water resource fee.

I also see you can't use a pass for prime tee times, something I suggested a few weeks ago. Their golf pass is $6000 for their 4 courses. Can't be used on weekends until after 11am and not on weekdays between 9 and 11.

ALL of their tee times, including those made with golfers purchasing annual passes, have a 4% water resource surcharge, which is how the owners will pay for their water management plan. Call out to the RCSC Golf Advisory Committee, Management and Board, this should be considered at our courses. It only makes sense that the people who use the golf courses should support the expenses instead of expecting the general Membership to shoulder the entire expense from PIF, thus delaying other needed projects and maintenance.

I will work on a letter to the editor and Board members. I won't be back in time to attend the Town Hall meetings but will check to see if I can participate electronically.

Since the same investors also own Union Hills, Coyote Lakes and at least one other area course, I assume they will have the 4% water usage fee as Palmbrook. Why isn't our Golf Director coming forward with this information?

Also send a message to John and Karen as co-chairs of B&F and a copy to Kevin and request that this idea be included in budget discussion.

When I play an executive course on Tuesdays for Ladies League, my green fee is $30, significantly higher than the average of $22. The water surcharge would be $1.40. If I can't find that small amount in my budget, then I shouldn't be golfing!

Also, a few golfers who spoke at the Exchange said, "If our annual pass fees are increased, then RCSC should start charging Members to play pickleball, minigolf, swimming pools, etc." Following that logic, then golfers shouldn't be paying anything, which is ludicrous. What wasn't mentioned, is that the cost to build and maintain a golf course is WAY more than any of the other amenities. Some of them seemed to imply that the more they played, the cheaper their rates should be. No one mentioned the additional wear and tear on the course those extra rounds cause to the turf.

On the other hand, kudos to the golfers who stood up and supported raising the rates!

I agree with Mr. Pearson that the Golf Advisory Committee should be leading these changes. However, I wonder how many of them purchase annual passes. Are they just trying to pass on the extra expenses to other golfers and protecting their own fees. In a way that is unfair for me to say because I have never attended one of their committee meetings. Also since those meetings are not recorded, I can't watch the videos. Perhaps someone who has attended the meetings can tell us.

I do not believe increasing the PIF fee and/or the RCSC annual fee should be done again until all other options are exhausted. And I am guessing there are many other options, starting with the water surcharge for golf and using unrestricted budget money to pay for the deferred maintenance, etc. I do understand there are limits for the use of unrestricted funds. Let’s get all the options on the table before raising PIF or annual assessment.

I'm in favor of a water surcharge but don't get too excited about it. A 5% fee would bring in, maybe, $500,000 a year.

And every half million dollars helps pay salaries or other operational expenses for golf. Director McAdam pointed out several meetings back that golf expenditures are the largest expenditure of RCSC compared to ALL other annual operational expenses. That in itself should have been a wake up call. With the anticipated turf reduction expenses coming the golfing community needs to realize that bargain basement pricing for golf can no longer continue.

Just curious how you calculated the $500,000 O & T?

I said maybe $500,000. Number of rounds played at $28 a round which may be a little high.

I wouldn't blink twice at the possibility of half a million, especially if it can help keep our annual assessments down. And.......who said it had to be 4%. Since we are behind on maintenance, perhaps it could be higher, say 6%. Many of the golfers complained about the condition of our courses. This could help!

Curious, how high I everyone here willing to go for the assessment? Assessment need put aside. What would you pay? I feel up to $750 per year would not be out of line for what we have access to.We don't want people only moving here because it's the cheapest place they can find!
