    Sun City residents receive great local news coverage from the Sun City Independent.

    There are many articles and Opinions about RCSC in this week’s edition;
    03.23.2022 print edition thrown today, 03.22.2022:
    • RCSC meeting format changed Decision reversed on “reconsideration”. Front page
    • Residents push for MV project 90-day moratorium to expire Page 6
    • RCSC officials Fer 1 RFP for lake Page 6
    • Dehumidifiers at Sundial operational Page 8
    • Golf continues on upswing on RCSC golf courses Page 8
    • Renovation: Build the Sun City gym now Page 10
    • Meetings: Rec board needs exchange gatherings Page 10
    • Mountain View: Renovations will be an embarrassment Page 10
    • Lake: Water leak solution seems clear Page 10
    I subscribe to the daily online access. It is our only source for local news and sharing our opinions in the Letters to the Editor section. We are very fortunate as many communities no longer have a local paper. AND Rusty Bradshaw, editor, does an outstanding job covering issues of interest!

    Chris - a great reminder of how important a local paper is. And how ironic! Today in the FB group, Sun City Chat, Bill showed a picture of a newspaper with the headline, "Rec Board Discusses Pros and Cons of Computerizing Accounting Systems." Date is a little blurry but I think it was 1975. The funniest - no, maybe the truest statement in the article - was the line, " ..."we could end up using obsolete equipment for many years." Gosh, how could that possibly happen!!

    I digress - I took your advice a while back and subscribed. Made me feel good to help out a somewhat dying form of communication that my life used to revolve around on Sunday mornings or the day after Thanksgiving when those behemoth editions would grace our doorstep. And, yes, Rusty has done SunCitians a big favor by keeping us well informed.

    One of the projects that I wanted to undertake but kind of got buried in the pile was finding out how many thrown free copies go out and is there a need to help the folks who don't get a thrown copy get one. My neighbor says she has called several times and never can get an issue. Makes me wonder how many others have the same problem. After all, the paper might be the only source for many residents who don't use computers.

    The Independent is not a newspaper, it’s submitted news. We long ago lost our newspaper the Daily News Sun so I worry about people getting their news and taking direction from the Sun City version of the National Enquirer.

    Yikes more hate speech from the guy touting his aversion to it. Careful, that is bordering on libel.
