Corporate: Trying to get copies

I asked for the minutes of the Communications meetings from its inception to the present, even through all the name changes. Marcia just called to let me know that the committee started in 2010, and after speaking with Bill Cook, they determined there were approximately 70 copies and that was too much copying and paper cost. When I said I'd be happy to come down there, sit in the office, and read them off the computer, she said I couldn't; it was "their" computer not the website. I settled for one copy per year.

It seems to me in this age of digitalized data, they could have just emailed them to me as a .pdf. Why do they have to be so difficult to work with?

Ridiculous! Minutes should be uploaded to website for sure.

It's the dark hole of information. I got less than half of what i asked for. The games never end.

They haven’t had to be accountable until recently! The times are a changing and they WILL answer to the members!!

How about getting 11 people and each person asking for 1 year of the minutes. 10 meetings a year. This should not be that difficult.
I doubt there would be many meeting that went beyond 1 page.

I have the minutes from the year I was on the Communications committee. Worthless for the most part. Just who showed up and itemized item that was discussed.
Communication was not the committee's forte. The committee was searching for a purpose. Web Site, Sunviews, Polls were off limits. We couldn't even contact Joelyn. Then Darla and Mike came in as co-chairs. I saw the direction they were taking it and soon after resigned. Sun City In Focus - what a joke. Its a club not a board committee. Mike Ege is into photography and video. Rich Hoffer likes to see himself on TV. So next year when Mike is no longer chair (they rotate commitee chairman), will Mike remain as a club member? I would bet on it. Will Rich Hoffer still be the host of Sun City In Focus? Probably.

We need a real communications committee.

Last request I made to RCSC was for 3 numbers (November 2021):
    • How many people on the Email Blast List?
    • How many printed copies of Sunviews for September 2021?
    • How many printed copies of Sunviews for October 2021?
First request was a simple email to Joelyn. She replied that I had to come in an fill out a request form.
I have a blank form, made a copy, filled it out and FAXED it in the same day.
A week later I had no response.

Second email to Joelyn and cc to Bill Cook. Bill emailed me back and said the information would be ready the next day by 3:00 PM and that I would have to come in and pick it up. Needless to say, I went to Lakeview corp office and picked up the form with the 3 numbers written next to my questions. Also it was signed by Sue Wilson.

They really do make something simple into something hard. I bet Joelyn had the numbers and could have responded in a simple email to my first request. I was not asking for Corporate Documents. There are obviously no privacy issues involved.

There seems to be no willingness on the part of RCSC to find simple solutions and make thing easy for a Member.
I really hope that next years board can change that!

Oh by the way - here are the answers to my questions:
    • How many people on the Email Blast List? 12,000
    • How many printed copies of Sunviews for September 2021? 5000
    • How many printed copies of Sunviews for October 2021? 8000
    Oops ;-) Did I share something I shouldn't have? I don't think so.

1200 people on the email blast list? Is that right? Something seems wrong with that number.

Only noticed the difference in the count because I read both threads today…which I appreciated!

From the SCHOA - some ideas thread
    • RCSC printed 5000 copies of Sunviews in September 2021 and 8,000 copies in October 2021. Sunviews was distributed with the Sun City Independent through December 2020 (stopped in 2021 due to cost).
From the Corporate trying to get copies thread
    • How many people on the Email Blast List? 1200
    • How many printed copies of Sunviews for September 2021? 500
    • How many printed copies of Sunviews for October 2021? 800

I think Mike had mentioned earlier the number on the email blast was 12,000 EO.

My reference was to Mike’s discrepancies regarding the number of SunViews printed copies, not the 12000 email blast addresses.

The SCHOA thread has 5000 and 8000
The Corporate -trying to get copies
    has 500 and 800
    (Bolded in my query)

Thanks for clarification. It's still concerning that only about one-third of residents are connected by email.

This figure sheds new light on the need for more (better?) forms of communication and really has me confused on the decision to no longer distribute SunViews through the Independent.

Thanks for the information. I will use it in my next project!! Oh - and Congratulations on your position with SCHOA. (I know you said it was a shoe-in because there were so many positions open and just as many people running.) I think you will do a fabulous job there!

I think that the reason people "seem" apathetic is because they are not getting any of the communications from RCSC!!!! And, I do believe that will be my next project: Improving Communications and/through AWARENESS! Want to join me?

Now that's funny...they just disbanded the "Communication Committee." Oh wait, no, they just changed the name...i'm sure communication is still their number one priority, after all the video tells us all.

Yes - to Communications through Technology Committee -- you know, the one that should be a club with Director's Egge and Hoffer (playing themselves) create the next Sun City AZ in Focus video exposing us to things/places/people we never knew existed here in Sun City. This is the committee that communicates what members want and NEED to know about RCSC and all that RCSC encompasses. Ya know - that committee!!

Once again, "Communications through Technology Committee" is not an appropriate name as there is no technology to support this.

If I'm not mistaken, it was first the Communications Committee, then it was the Communications and Technology Committee, then it was the Communications Thru Technology Committee, and now its the Sun City in Focus Committee!

    Three strikes and you're OUT!

I think it should have lost its status as a Standing Committee when it went to Sun City in Focus and simply became the Video Magazine Club?
