Just wanted to congratulate the new SCHOA board members, esp. Mike Wendel who has been an active contributor on this site. I'm always glad to see new blood get in and hopefully improve its image from just a CCR enforcement group to something that enhances our quality of life by encouraging us and drawing us together. I wish they'd do some positive reinforcement of properties with fine xeriscape gardens, homes that have been historically preserved, fun seasonal displays, etc. Residents could nominate homes and SCHOA could give out certificates and get photo ops and generate some attention and overall good will. There could be recognition certificates in each of the 3 phases and maybe a plaque could be awarded for putting on the house like historic homes have if a home has been kept up to the original design with info about the model number and some interesting info about it. It could do this in conjunction with the historical society to help increase exposure of both groups and create some community pride.

Yeah, congrats to Mike. Unfortunately, we've probably lost him as a contributor to this forum? Can't say anything negative about Sun City or SCHOA without repercussions.

I've said it before, it's a curse sometimes to know too much. Congrats to Mike BTW, i suspect he will be in for more than he bargained for. Rumors abound and the first is, why was the holiday open house at SCHOA cancelled? Have i mentioned i resent organizations that are less than open about what is going on? I also hear there are bigger problems coming, way more important than a holiday gathering. Hopefully, they are not true.

Finally, when i cracked open my digital issue of the SCHOA monthly paper, we were once again treated to Debbie Lesko's picture and comments. For years SCHOA has appeared to be the promotional arm of the republican party in Sun City. I understand the need and value of working closely with County Commissioner Clint Hickman. Our relationship with the county has been imperative. After that, the ties to those leaning to the right are suspect at best. The fact the new PR person is Rick Gray's wife was fine as long as she kept politics out of the equation. For years we struggled from that happening, it appears as if we are going backwards.

Debbie Lesko did nothing for Sun City. She only showed up when she needed votes.

I knew Debbie pretty well back when she was normal. You know, before she contracted agent orange.

Respectively, let's not go there! If you think Brandon Biden is doing a better job than orange man I have to seriously question your judgement!

I'd love to see the speeding vehicles addressed. It's down right dangerous to be a biker, walker. runner, Prides member, golf car driver (I do recognize some of the speeders are golf car drivers), etc.

How about implementing some of those security cameras that capture license plates that Youngtown is using?

This could be a fun one if this was the place to go there, but alas, it's not. My point was and always will be the organizations in Sun City that are here to serve our needs (and want our money) should stay above the political fray. Been down this road too many times over the years and sucking up to one party is a fools game.

All for now, have to catch my plane to Dallas, i hear JFK Jr. is going to make an appearance any day now. Q says so.

I would, respectively, like to know where SCHOA gets the authority to restrict or inforce parking to 72 hours? I have seen some of the deeds of where Del Webb built condos back in the 70's and those deeds ask and give back to Maricopa County the areas that are roads! So, if the roads actually belong to the county, how can SCHOA place restrictions on street parking?

It does say it in the deed restrictions but your point was a good one FYI so i went to GOOGLE and asked about street parking in Arizona and it too has a 72 hour limitation (in most instances).

Interesting!?!?! It looks like if we were Title 33, those older condo communities (pre December 31, 2014), the homeowners would apparently not have to comply with an HOA parking restriction?

33-1818. Community authority over public roadways; applicability

    A. Notwithstanding any provision in the community documents, after the period of declarant control, an association has no authority over and shall not regulate any roadway for which the ownership has been dedicated to or is otherwise held by a governmental entity.

    B. This section applies only to those planned communities for which the declaration is recorded after December 31, 2014.

And did it say what those "instances" were? I would think that pertains more to those communities located within Phoenix city limits rather than out here by us?

Forgive me for my ignorance, but as I understand it there are many items SCHOA would like to revise within the CC&R's but can't get the votes to do so.

What are the requirements for voting those rules into affect within SCHOA? Do they have a ridiculously high quorum requirement too? I think they've been trying for years?

SCHOA=a bunch of old farts that hate everyone who is not a Sun City resident and especially grandkids. Don't tell SCHOA, but people do visit here and alot of them buy property here sometime in their lives. It's the only place now where they can still throw their weight around now that they are not part of the private sector any longer. A bunch of hateful racist woman hating association they are. No respect for women.

    FYI:
How long can a car stay parked without moving?
If your vehicle isn't moved within 72 hours, an officer or employee of the police department has the right to issue your vehicle a parking violation notice. There is also a vehicle code section that allows the officer or employee to have the vehicle towed and stored at the owner's expense.

I'm not saying it's a bad idea, I just question SCHOA's authority to in force it!

I certainly don't want to see a bunch of RV's parked all over SC! Not to mention the snowbirds who leave their cars here.

The year was 1978, i just read the newspaper articles today when SCHOA took a resident to court over a parking matter with their RV. The court said SCHOA had the right to enforce their CC&R's and that became the precedent for every case after it. Let's be clear, in spite of how SW feels, SCHOA's CC&R's are the easiest set of rules to follow in almost every instance. Common sense, do the right thing by and for your neighbors.

I agree. As long as they don't start going crazy and start telling us what color to paint our house! Too many rules just knocks the he'll of having fun!
