A couple of years ago I discovered the Sun City Railroad Club (or something close to that) and was blown away by what they had created in the Fairway Rec. Center. So I dragged my camera over and shot a series of pictures, that I’m posting on Flickr (see link later). But as I wandered around, clicking away, it occurred to me that there was one thing missing. Music. So I decided to shift through my music collection and produce some train song CDs. I also elicited the aid of my brother, who has (arguably) an even larger, or at least more select, collection of music CDs than I do. However he is even more of a recluse than I am, so enough said, other than he totally pitched in. The next two or three weeks was spent collecting and I-tuning and burning CDs. By the end I had amassed (as I recall) about 180 of such songs that were, I think, deposited on eight or so CDs. I checked to be sure that the Club had a CD player (yes), then wrote a little cover letter explaining the project and adding email and phone numbers to be used if they were really not interested in the material, ‘cause in that case I’d like it back. Since then every time I have cruised by there has been no music. I once asked and got an, ‘I think So-And-So might know something about that” sort of reply. Now I am wondering, should I just go in and try and collect those discs and see if the Sun City West Railroad Club is interested in them? Or I can ask you, have you ever heard music emanating from the Club rooms? I ask because I really am seeking a direction to proceed in. Oh yes, the pictures, https://www.flickr.com/photos/60188803@N00/albums/72157710355531477
Particularly of interest to me is the "The Peoria Depot" which I might do a photo shoot of, if there is no admission price.
I feel since you were so kind as to provide this music, there should at least be an honorable mention somewhere, on a wall, or elsewhere, stating the sounds are provided by a generous Sun City Member for your pleasure. If the discs are not being played, perhaps is it time to ask where they are. I would hope those discs would not be imported to SCW, but rather be utilized in a CD player with continuous play, allowing for the music to be on at all times. I truly trust this is a mere oversight and no malice was intended. You are a very generous person, and am thankful for all of your efforts and input.
I am not feeling any malice, more like indifference. They did not ask for the music, it was my idea, but if they are not using them, I think I'll drop by are chat about it. I do need to look up their hours.
Sometimes it's difficult to carry on conversations or just hear with the trains running. A chat with the club workers may shed light on the issue.
Good idea, now to get their hours. Summer Hours (May thru September): Wednesdays 9am to noon; 2nd & 4th Saturdays 10am to 2pm - - so what Saturday are we today? Third.
No need to be sorry, in fact I am almost sorry that I got into all this whining and moaning, it just sort of organically grew out of my going over my SC picture collection. With a few more sets to go.
