The courts can’t rubber stamp either and just say the CC& R says... They have to deal with what will be the future of many of these ending up in court due to the financial instability of golf. As you say R, its not fair to the other 95% OR the future of the community.

I read in the Independent that SCW has a small dog park. I didn’t buy in SCW because I wanted something closer in but after recent years’ postings here I sometimes wish I had. They do sound more progressive... even talks about the golf issue.

SC did have plans to build a separate small dog park and that was one reason I felt better about buying here. Of course those plans were stopped. Yes I know I can drive to other cities for a small dog park, but it seems strange that in a place the size of SC, and all the small dogs here, we should have one. I haven’t heard any more about that. Does anyone know?

Yes, the disbanded Long Range Planning Committee and even the defunct Member Communications Committee(before it became more of a Marketing group) requested dog parks be designed for the Marinette Center when it was being rebuilt and at the Sun Bowl. Both sites had areas perfect for dog parks but because of all the problems with the quiet purchase of Duffeeland the additional dog parks never came to fruition.

Speaking up at the Board/Member Exchange or attending the Long Range Planning Committee would be where you could start an effort to move these parks forward. In order to this issue discussed at the LRPC you either have to have a Committee member bring up the topic or get prior approval to speak at the meeting.

Hey aggie, have you heard anything; Is there any truth to the rumor the latest version of the Member Communication Committee is on its last legs?

I've heard the same rumblings. I can see it going the way of the Visitor's Center. My take is that these committees have been so stripped of power that it is hard to get good people to participate. Granted the committees can only bring forward recommendations to the Board but there is no back & forth flow of information between the two. The committees are being more or less guided in the direction that management/BOD want them to go.

I don’t know about the problems with the quiet purchase of Duffeland. But I wish they would have at least split it up into two.

If a new park were currently in any state of talks it might be possible but knowing how long it would take if I spoke up, at the length other things take, my dogs would be dead by the time they were in place. I’m not being sarcastic. They aren’t young.

If they had gone forward the timing would have been right for my little guy who loves to run and play. It would have been fun for me too. I can go to some here but it’s a traffic filled ride so I don’t go. He’s not good around big dogs and I don’t trust it. I guess no one else cared to speak up again or no one wanted one. I did think the sun bowl area would have been perfect. Sad.

Emily is right, both Dottie and Tracey have been inspirational in their efforts to get Duffeeland under control. I never understood why they didn't carve out a small area for the little ones. I suspect the people/members using it rejected the idea because they like blending everyone together. It does no harm to just ask about why and see where it takes you C.
