Self-imposed exile.

Okay, it's taken me awhile to get over my angst over how SCHOA handled/treated my complaint against a vendor. And to be honest, it was nice being away from the whole message board/forum postings. That said, there is too much going on in the community we all love to sit idly by and watch it without commenting.

We all know the platform of posters is minuscule, but the numbers of readers is larger. The attraction by those looking to buy is there, as is a number of Sun City residents who read the site. And, we know for a fact that some RCSC and some SCHOA board members follow it as well.

The trouble with staying away is too much of what goes on stats buried in obscure minutes of meetings or all too often is just left unsaid...and that in mind id tragic.

To remedy that, i hereby lift my self-imposed exile and will start posting new threads that will become far more aggressive in talking points Sun City residents need start pondering.

Welcome back Bill, we missed you buddy.
I for one like reading your comments and pontifications, it gives one things to ponder.

I don't post much, but do like to read comments regarding our future neighborhood. We are planning to head to Sun City spring of 2019 unless something happens to make us go sooner. I'm pushing for sooner, but my slightly younger wife wants to wait until then.

A recent incentive to move sooner is that a big oil & gas company has decided to put a fracking rig 2 miles north of us. You would think that 2 miles is a safe distance, but they drill down and then out 3 miles. Of course it is about 6,000 feet down and we get our water from other than ground water, but it still makes one uneasy to know they will drill under your house.

I know, bla, bla, bla... big corporations get the state regulators on their side and do what they want, etc. etc. and individuals can do little about it... Sigh.

Sorry, I rambled, had a squirrel moment, back to subject at hand.... welcome back Bill, look forward to reading your posts.

You keep us on our toes, Bill. Thanks for all the info you provide.
I'm sure you and others have seen new ratings that SUN CITY is #2 behind SCW which is #1.
Can't figure out why SCW is #1. Probably because it is newer.

Thanks gang, good to be back. I never have put much faith in those lists Peg. There are hundreds of them floating about and the measurement they use is often silly at best. That said, Sun City West has been far more progressive over the past 10 years in both how open they are in their governance and trying to recruit/build an infrastructure of activists within the community. In many ways it has paid off for them.

Consider this: At the last RCSC board meeting, there was more staff and board members than there was residents in attendance. I think i counted 14 of us, with maybe two more straggling in near the end...probably looking for the toilet. They appear to care less about it, so i sure as heck won't lose any sleep over it.

The other thing Sun City West has going for them is they have't shelled the bulk of their PIF (or whatever they call it) into their golf courses. During the tail end of last year, i had a couple of disagreements with a board member and a candidate for the board. They said my suggestion that 40 million dollars for golf was way too high. Of course that started me digging and what i found was information that board members should know, but i suspect they had no clue. They simply took the drivel they were given and accepted it for the gospel. But that will all be laid out in another thread, coming soon.

Fracking is (opinion) a good litmus test to run candidates through when deciding who to vote for in various different elections.

Great to have you back, Bill, and I love the more aggressive approach. While the establishment kept you off the long range committee because you were a threat to the establishment, a free press (e.g. Talk of Sun City) has been considered the fourth branch of government to illuminate government mistakes/abuses and act as a call to action for the citizens to utilize their First Amendment rights to restore order. Through the use of the freedom of the press, the press can act as the collective voice of Sun City and demand change. In a perfect world, the Sun City establishment will succumb to the overwhelming vocal opposition and adjust accordingly. I truly believe you can be just as effective right here as you would have been on the Long Range Planning Committee.

Why don't we get some business cards (for this site) to pass out at the next meeting ?
Possibly this would bring our voice here , to a forum that can later be incorporated into real change at the meetings ?

At one time, TOSC did offer free business cards. Don't know what happened.
    I probably still have some.

I like your thinking here, D! Anything that can be done to promote this website will empower the free press to hold Sun City governance accountable. I think once people understand how their money is being spent and that the future is being ignored, the more they will demand accountability. When I think how a new community center was bypassed in favor of a golf renovation, I truly feel the community was wronged.

No offense meant , but to reply at the Podium to an audience of 15 members ? If they even allowed it ?
I'm going to go ahead (on my own) and get 1000 business cards made up with our logo (as close as I can get to it) and start passing them around.
Quite frankly , I think I can come up with something that looks officially sanctioned , directing people here.
Its time the Oligarchy begins to crumble !
Please email me at campedinthebush@gmail.com for your suggestions on the Card. We need plain and simple and I would like some input from others before proceding.

I didn’t mean to post that, changed my mind, that’s the reason it’s unfinished. Somehow it posted. I’m going to remove it.

Anyway, maybe you don’t realize that the meetings are posted on youtube. So it’s more than a 15 person audience, over 300 from the one two weeks ago (yeah, not a quorum). I didn’t mean you shouldn’t hand out cards. I meant both.
