A fixation I'd like to share

We all (well, most of us) have our own little quirks and idiosyncrasies, here is one of mine. Some time ago I became first fascinated and then fixated on paint drips in the middle of the road. I once tracked one on I-25 from just north of Albuquerque, around Santa Fe and then 20 miles north of that until the drip pulled off the road (I followed) and into a parking lot where it stopped. This was maybe 40 or 50 miles of paint. Was this like Hansel & Gretel, leaving a trail of bread crumbs or Daedalus (or was it Theseus?) trailing a thread behind him through the Minotaur’s labyrinth or was it something less calculated? In any case, being one of those drivers who keeps their eyes on the road all the time, living only in the present, once I had discovered these critters they seemed to be everywhere. Yes, even in Sun City. What started me off on this tirade was finding beautiful example in Fry’s parking lot (picture 1) but over the past while I have photographed several others in our fair town. Think of them as a sort of Rorschach test, about how you view the world you live in. Fascinating, no? Or is it just me?
I also wonder how many pictures I can upload at one time. Let's find out!

Haha. This is fun and yes fascinating. Each one must have a story we'll never know. I won't look at the road for only dodging potholes again. OK, not too many potholes in SC, but I'm still in LA where it's a large world of potholes.

Do let me know about any paint trails you find in LA. Pictures are an added bonus but not a requirement.

The entire city is probably a paint trail.

    No, it's not that simple.

It was one of those resident sarcasms. LA is a mass of unending demolition and reconstruction.

I don't think that there is an appropriate emoto-icon for sarcasm, is there? perhaps we need to define one.

The sarcasms emoji is an inverted smile. The older TOC software had more emojis to choose from. I don't see the inverted smile and the keyboard stroke doesn't give the same look. But maybe this one ;)

Do tar trails count? I see quite a few of those.

This is like asking an artist whether paint-by-numbers counts as art!

    That's right, you can look, but you'd better not . . . . ........................

I always thought that "Whatever" it is that trips a persons fascination in this life..... is what makes them interesting and Unique !

Well I think that my interest, this particular one anyway certainly makes me unique. Finding folks who find this interesting is more difficult.

Damn ct, hate to burst your bubble on this fixation, but you are not alone. Nope sorry, not me but my 7 year old standard tuxedo party poodle loves spots on the street and sidewalks. And i'm not talking just paint spots, she searches high and low for anything that looks like it wasn't part of the original landscape. The good news is when we walk late at night, it's far more difficult to find those illusive little buggers she loves so much. By the way, i always tell people my young girl is far smarter than me so you are in good company.

And we are known by the company we keep, so I feel pretty comfortable.
