    The issue of who controls the pool areas at the RCSC Centers is heated. I fail to see why everyone that doesn't join a club or pay to take a water exercise class is barred from the pool deck area. Why can't someone quietly read a book, catch up on emails or simply relax by the pool until the club/class is finished?? There is the additional question of prime time afforded to clubs at the Oakmont pool which is the only RCSC saltwater pool.

    To compare this issue to space at Lakeview and Bell Lanes. If a bowling league has 10 lanes reserved for a 32 week league over the winter......it won't bar non league RCSC members from sitting at the tables or counters while the league bowls. Many people can no longer participate in physical sports but get great joy watching others.

    I suppose a person could pay the $5 annual membership to the Water Polo Club at Oakmont and in effect be allowed to stay in the pool area?

    It is an interesting discussion and one I struggle with. Let's start with the basics; clubs can be formed with 25 members while clubs with 50 or more potentially could get their own dedicated space. As you know, the fight over that space has become heated at times. For many of the new clubs, they don't get dedicated space, but they do get dedicated time slots.

    I've listened to those complaining clubs shouldn't get dedicated times because that's when they want the pool. Hey dude, there's 6 other pools open that time of day. But then they whine, "why should I have to drive 6 blocks." Really? The balancing act of scheduling times is a challenge. There's dozens of water aerobics classes alone and just meeting their needs is tough. I think the last I heard was they had well over a 1000 members.

    I suspect the problem with letting people laze about Oakmont when water volleyball is going on is the next thing you know they are in the pool and then what? There's no easy answers, but the real trick is to work together to make it happen. Easier said than done when folks start screaming about their rights to do what they want when they want.

    The one that drives me crazy is the Sun City Life Long Learning club. They get short shrift at Fairway. While it's way better than what they used to have, it could be so much more. I was asked the other day when I would run again so they could get better support from the board. I have no clue how much they've asked for, but I feel this could be one of those clubs that has unlimited potential but works with limited space.

    Which is the perfect segue to moan about us (the RCSC) not buying the Lakes Club. It would have been the single most significant act any RSC board of directors would have taken since the birth of the PIF. The trouble of course was when it was available we had a couple of officers who were clueless on why we would want it. Hopeless eh?

    You'll never get those nurses out of the Lake Club now. ;

    Wait, if the water volleyball club is meeting/playing in the pool people can't be on the pool deck? So, if the bicycle club is having a ride, can people not drive on the street?

    You can drive on the street....you just can't stop to watch!

    I did hear MCSO is giving out tickets to bicyclists for failing to stop at stop signs. They sometimes forget they are to follow all traffic laws.

    I participate in a pool excercise class twice a week in Sun Dial small pool.
    Pool is closed to others at that time.
    The monthly newsletter lists the times that all pools are closed/open.
